Aesthetically, this place is super cute and really clean. We stayed in the Hyatt room and the deck was awesome with a beautiful view of the harbor. Unfortunately, that’s where the good things end. ..- This building was NOT built to be a ‘hotel’. The walls are super thin, but even worse, the doors are hollow core with a huge gap between the door and the floor. We could make out every word of every conversation that all 3 of our ‘roommates’ said. Luckily, we’re heavy sleepers, so it didn’t disrupt our sleep, but I don’t know that our ‘roommates’ all had the same experience. Management is obviously aware it’s an issue because there’s a bucket of earplugs in the room!! Wow! - Entry to the hotel is managed by a keypad. Which was not unique in any way. I easily figured out the pattern and knew what everyone’s code was (tested the theory on the main door, not the individual doors). That would be fine...except there wasn’t a deadbolt on the door! If I had been staying alone, I would not have felt safe knowing if anyone else figured out the super simple pattern, they could easily be in my room. Eeek.- While there were blinds on the deck doors for privacy, they didn’t block a single ounce of light. Simply hanging blackout curtains or replacing the blinds that are there with blackout blinds would make a huge difference. We were up at 5am when the sun came up whether we wanted to be or not. So, all of that being said, if you’re ok with the few negative things I’ve listed above, it’s a cute little place in a good location. We will definitely be back to Friday Harbor, but we will not be returning to the Cannery Inn until they fix the list above.
