Second time visiting this beautiful home and it will never disappoint! It’s lively inside and out in the perfect location. Everything you’d want to visit as a tourist is within 45 minutes drive in every direction. And the secret is out, the conservation park beach across the cove is just awesome. I hope to be back for a third time in the near future.

Breathtaking views near Mahone Bay

The house was very clean, and located on the water. My kids loved the outdoor space, and my mom loved the views and the modern amenities in the home. The host was great about communicating and the property manager was friendly and helpful. Our stay was very relaxing and peaceful. Thank you for hosting us!

Beautiful Location

Stayed here for a weekend in April. The photos did not do the location justice. It was a peaceful location, ocean view and a few minutes drive to Mahone Bay. Great amenities, clean rooms and comfortable surroundings. Would definitely book again.

Perfect place to stay with your extended family

We spent a couple of nights at Kate’s with our adult children and their partners along with our 3 grandchildren . A beautiful spot to get together as a family, plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. Big family living area with open concept kitchen . Lots of room to all eat at the table . Water views and sunrises . Kate was very easy to communicate with.

Ladies weekend in Paradise

We all loved this property. Very clean, comfortable beds. There were 8 senior ladies that do weekends away, and this house was perfect. Everything was there that we needed. We'll be using it again.

Mahone Bay home

As far as location this was the best out of the 4 places we stayed. It was easy to get to restaurants and sites to visit. Great wraparound porch with gas fire pit. Deers came to visit every evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Host was easy to reach.

Great fit for us!

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the open living space. Only issue was there are no platters for food which you would think there would be for a cottage that indicates there is room for 10. Could also use more serving bowls. That is small and we really enjoyed our stay. We would highly recommend they install air conditioning. The bedrooms are very uncomfortable in hot weather.

Gals vacation

6 senior ladies enjoy two wonderful days at this beautiful, extremely clean and well equipped ocean front home. We will look no further to find our get away cottage , cannot wait to go back again. The owner Kate was very friendly and easy to deal with. We would not change a thing . Only a few minutes away from great restaurants and shopping . The view on the wrap around deck was amazing . This was an excellent choice .

Great Nova Scotia experience

Perfect place for a family vacation. The owner was very responsive to any questions we had and the vacation home had all the necessary amenities, although serving platters for our large group would have been useful. The Dynamite trail for walks and running was close by and thoroughly enjoyed by all of us. Day trips to scenic sites were easily managed.

Bright, clean and spacious

The cottage is on a beautiful location, quiet and fairly private. Well equipped for a large group including seating and supplies, including cookware to towels. The host was quick to respond. It was a great stay.

Fabulous Location & View With a Few Hiccups

LOVED: - Location - Waterfront view & accessibility - Check-in process & communication - Large home with plenty of rooms & washrooms - House thoroughly clean upon check-in - Plenty of kitchen & bath towels (but 2 beach towels doesn’t seem like enough) - Vacuum & Swiffer + plenty of dishes, cookware, silverware - Very quiet dishwasher with plenty of detergent - Large playroom with some toys - Well-running refrigerator despite each of us whacking our heads on it multiple times due to the old school style Needs improvement: - Ant abatement on deck & inside dining/family room - Serious moisture abatement throughout entire downstairs & washroom. Nothing dries out & everything is damp. Washroom floor puddles from toilet & shower throughout the day. Baseboards absorbing water & wall has mold. - A more realistic supply of paper towels (2 provided), toilet paper (2 provided/ea washroom), dish soap (1/4” in container), and laundry soap (2 pods) for 7 people for a whole week - Weekly v. monthly garbage/recycle pick up (the smell wafts into the house) - Dining table set is perpetually sticky & gross feeling. Chairs are rickety & had been previously repaired. While playing cards (adults not horsing around), a chair broke out from under my brother-in-law (6’3”230 lbs) causing pain to his shoulder/tailbone. Handyman came & removed chair. Very nice & responsive owner & handyman tho!

Ancestral vacation

A wonderful place to stay in Mahone Bay. Lots of restaurants and shops. They love their ice cream. Close to Lunenburg and the Ovens. A good base to explore the surrounding places.

Great get away

We loved the home as well as the location. The host was very quick to reply and super friendly. Lots of space inside and outside. We left with so many amazing memories and mosquito bites...bring bug spray! 😄

Perfect Stay

We had the pleasure of staying at Oakland the end of July 2022. The house was perfect for us. We were on vacation to celebrate my inlaw 50th Anniversary, which included a family of 4 and 2 adult couples. The place was perfect. It is in close proximity to Mahone Bay, Lunenburg, Peggy's Cove and Halifax; all of which we did day trips too. The restaurants in Manhone Bay were delicious (came reccommended by the host in the welcome book). Access was easy, house was very clean and spacious. We went paddle boarding (brought our own) in the bay, and crab catching when the tide went out. We took advantage of the conservation area beach, 2 minutes away. And the grandparents could watch us swim from the deck overlooking the ocean. The house suited us perfectly, and we were impressed with it and its location. Kate, the owner, was amazing to work with (although, it was so easy we didnt need much from her). Would go back in a heart beat with more family. Thank you for the wonderful vacation Kate!
