host was kind and friendly. she called us when we needed to communicate and the place was neat and tidy. we enjoyed our stay, perfect cozy trip. the place was secluded but right next to any stores or restaurants we needed.

We arrived at Forest Cottage Retreat and could not find a key or any instruction on the door code. We were not able to lock the door at any time during our stay.We messaged the host and also called the number they provided, but we’re not able to contact the host at all.On the second day, the water stopped working.Again, There was no running water when we left the property.The entire expereince was terrible. THe host and VRBO were completely negligent.

I was there for a full week for the CBA's Father's Day Bluegrass Festival. The location was ideal, as the Fairgrounds are a short bicycle ride away. The house was pleasant, and though there was no air conditioning, the temperature in the house was manageable because of the cool nights except for a few very hot days.There was no water at all for most of two separate days, a hardship. Although there was a TV, there was no functioning cable or local channels. There also was no functioning internet / wifi for the entire duration, which was a problem because cell data reception was poor inside the house.

Weekend Getaway

Warm and cozy. Bed is a little in the firm side. But overall, we really enjoyed our. Jennifer is a wonderful host!

Jennifer was an amazing host! Even with a small miscommunication because of the website, she was able to accomodate us and make our stay an awesome one. The property is really idyllic and perfect for a gettaway. It's cozy, comfortable and the little porch outside to watch the stars at night is pretty dope. I highly, highly, recommend this cottage.

Perfect!

We couldn't ask for better. Our trip was due to a family medical emergency, and after nonstop chaos and stress, it was so nice to sit outside in the peace and quiet.

previous tenant wouldn't leave, so i had to rebook on the spot. since then, the host agreed that i should have a full refund, but she is now not contacting me regarding the refund. Is the amount taken immediately or after the stay?

It's a dump. Pee stains on old worn out mat at front door, next to hand-printed 'Take Your Shoes off Sign"! Broken shower head, holes in wall, smelled of urine and mold, filthy indoor rugs, dirty towels on filthy dirty bathroom floor, bloody used sheets left on bed, garbage piled outside, garbage left inside camp cooler, owner/operator rude when she arrived two hours after we left numerous messages, the four reviews on her site were all false. The place was a dump and we were not offered any compensation, apology or help by Jennifer, owner/operator or VRBO. I doubt this review will ever be read by future guests. Such a shame.

Our family are 7th generational locals to Grass Valley and helped co-found much of the existing infrastructure in place today. We strive to carry this legacy on through the restoration and stewardship of our 100 year old family farm. Our goal is for others to feel connected as if they were apart of the family. We want people to delve into the history of the rich gold mining culture as well as expience the sheer magnitude of the surrounding beauty of the natural rolling hills, forests, rivers, creeks, pastures & varieties of native plants and animal life. We are descendant from foresters, farmers, preservationists, and the brilliant engineers behind the iconic North Star Gold Mine. We wish to pass of the legacy and share the richness of our small town culture with you!
