We had a lovely 5 day stay at the beautiful cottage. Perfect location for exploring Southwest Harbor, Seawall, Acadia and Bar Harbor, with a comfy place to return to in the evening to relax. Enjoyed the full kitchen, comfy clean beds, relaxing living room for evening movies. We had a front row seat on the side porch to watch the full moon and eclipse!

Every aspect of our stay at Shell Cabin was perfect. The accommodation was well equipped, impeccably clean, and perfectly situated. There is easy, ample parking and the parking area is well-lit at night. The house provides bright, spacious accommodations. Communication with the owners both prior to and during our stay was prompt, courteous and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely rent Shell Cabin again.

The cottage was very clean and convenient for our stay at Acadia. Louise was a perfect host, suggesting great places to hike and for dinner. She answered our questions very promptly. The cottage is very well equipped with all we needed for this short stay. I really wish I could come back again one day.

Louise was very easy to reach. I had questions about grocery stores and restaurants and she gave some recommendations. Also, we didn’t need to pack any shampoos, detergents, etc because the house already had them.

We had a great vacation in Maine- Acadia National Park! This house has everything you need. The downtown area is walking distance with quite a few good restaurants. The drive to Bar Harbor is 20-25 minutes which is very manageable. We saw deer daily around the house- including a baby deer! Highly recommend!

This property worked so well for my sister and I. Everything was so nice and clean. The location was handy as we explored Mt Desert Island. The deer in the yard added to the charm.

Entry was easy. The host was responsive. Everything was clean and in good condition. Plenty of space for 4 adults. Easy private parking. Hair dryer in the bathroom. Unlimited hot water from a tankless heater, so we had no problem getting 4 people showered in 90 minutes. The tap water tastes good, if you're ok with the slightly mineral taste of spring water. The Butterfly Park across the street was beautiful and definitely worth a visit.We enjoyed picking up breakfasts from the nearby Milagro Coffee Bar that was just a couple minute walk away. The Seaside Dairy Bar & Lobster Bar about 7 minute drive South of the cottage is a great stop for a quick, outdoor, very casual dinner and dessert - good food and prices. The best blueberry donuts in the area were at Village Green in Bar Harbor.

Loved everything about our stay!

Cottage as described, but even better! Perfect location for our Acadia 4 day adventures. Comfortable home and beds to recharge in after long wonderful day hiking and exploring. Loved the location because it was close to everything in quieter SW harbor, and easy drive to the rest of MDI and Acadia.

We enjoyed our stay at Louise’s cabin in Southwest harbor. The location was excellent! The house was clean and provided everything we needed for our stay. Louise was very easy to communicate with. I would book this cottage again in the future.

Wonderful getaway during the spring

We had a fantastic time staying at the Shell cottage in Southwest Harbor. The cottage felt like home away from home during our week away in April. This is our second time in 4 years renting this cottage.

This place was great! We loved being on island but not in the heart of the Bar Harbor bustle. Everything was still only 20-30 minutes away. Well-equipped, super clean.

Wonderful stay! The house was in excellent condition, kitchen was nicely stocked, lots of extra towels, blankets, pillows to make sure we were comfortable, and games, puzzles, movies kept everyone busy. Location is very convenient for "quiet side" activities. Host was very responsive when we thought we locked ourselves out.

First Vrbo stay

We loved our week here! Very comfortable for the three of us. Convenient to Acadia National Park which is why we came to Maine. The hosts were very responsive. Would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arises.

A wonderful stay

Louise and Jim were the ideal hosts - friendly, communicative and helpful. Their place is perfect for a small family or couple. We came with our toddler and had the best time. Clean, well equipped, perfectly located in Southwest Harbor and close to all things Acadia. Would definitely come back!

Warm comfortable cottage

Very clean warm cottage. Allowed us the option of spending all day at Acadia National Park and come home for the evening to a clean comfortable enjoyable space for the evening. Exceeded my expectations and would highly recommend this property to anyone else. If we go back to the area again will definitely look into staying here again!!

Our family home is right next door. We are year-round residents of Southwest Harbor and have lived here for over 30 years. We enjoy hiking, cycling, and golfing.

Easy access to all of MDI from the cottage. Bar Harbor is a 15 minute drive, the summit of Cadillac Mountain is 13 miles, and the pleasure of the quiet village of Southwest Harbor is a few minutes' walk away.
