Yes, the property was as described. The views were better than you could imagine. A little hard to find the first time as the house is tucked away on the top of the hill, but worth the effort .The location was awesome if you want to go to up to a dozen small hillside towns within an hour drive.Would highly recommend an Adrian the owner was fantastic to deal with.

Fantastic property in a wonderful location!

We spent an uninterrupted week at Villa Elefanti for our honeymoon - it is a wonderful place. Secluded, yet close enough to the local town (Stimigliano) for groceries and plenty of options for proper Italian food. It gave us the space to relax, enjoy the spectacular views and enjoy firing up the pizza oven. We will be back - next time with friends!!! Thank you

Dear James & Elle, Thank you. We have previously had Villa Elefanti used as 'home' for a wedding in Rome, followed by a catered reception at the Villa . The couple visited us there is advance, by arrangement, and we assisted them with contacting a local caterer, and also other accommodation for their overflow guests, locally. I think it all worked out a lot cheaper than a lot of alternatives. Yours is the first honeymoon though. Maybe you'll give others the idea? And of course we look forward to welcoming you and your friends next time. Best wishes, Adrian

Dream Location for Holiday in Italy

I can highly recommend this accommodation ! The Pool, the view, the sourroundings and the house were perfect for relaxing days in Italy. We were there as a group of 7 people. The accommodation offered enough space for everyone. Adrian was super helpful and was always quickly available if there was any information or other problems. I would definitely come back !

A wonderful place with good standard.

We were a group of 4 adult couples that spend a week in the villa. The view was outstanding in all directions. It has several sitting groups in the sun or shadow. The pool was big and deep. We spend most of the time outdoors. But we loved to prepare breakfasts and dinners in the Nice Kitchen. We rented bikes that were deliverd at the villa. The area was good for biking. For shopping and restauratsvisits in the evenings, it wound be Nice to have a car available. Adrian is a positiv and helpful host.

Thank you Torhild. I will add our comments about the bike hire, and suitability of the area for cycling, to the notes that i send to all guests. You have commented that 'Rentalbikeitaly' were unreliable with contractual arrangements. Conversely, Tuscany Ride A Bike delivered bikes to Villa Elefanti, and they were "very good quality (carbonbikes)" . I look forward to you your next visit. Best wishes, Adrian

We didn't want to leave!

We have stayed in many villas over the years, but none with a view to rival Villa Elefanti! I have so many photos of sunrise (from my balcony) and sunset from the dinner table as they just seemed to get better and better. There isn't enough space on here to say everything. Adrian was fantastic with information from booking and we felt like it was 'our villa' from the moment we arrived. We took the train to Rome (despite having a car) and it was so easy. Lovers of 'Normal people' can visit the Piazza where they had ice cream! Local restaurants were perfect, supermarkets had everything you could think of. Definitely get the Porchetta from the local market in the piazza, it was amazing. We will definitely return. Thanks for a perfect end to our 3 weeks in Italy, we were in Lucca and the Cinqueterre beforehand but saved the best for last!

Dear Siobhan & family, thank you for the very fulsome review. Lazio is less well known than some other parts of Italy, and, perhaps as a result, the people of Stimigliano and its environs are very welcoming to the few tourists they encounter. I look forward to your next visit. Best wishes, Adrian

A tranquil paradise!

Firstly, the villa itself is stunning. It has 360 views overlooking the valleys and hills all around the property. It has several outdoor seating areas to enjoy, all with incredible views. Beautiful gardens with many pollinator friendly plants and shrubs, including a huge lavender bush. The pool and loungers were so enjoyable after a log day out and about. The interior has 2 very cozy living spaces to relax in. We especially loved the smaller living area off the dining room, it was really cozy and we found ourselves enjoying the space in the later evenings. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything needed to cook a meal. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were large. There is a 4th upstairs bedroom which has very low ceilings, but it is quiet with beautiful views. The beds were firm and bedding was provided. The villa is just outside of the village and accessed via narrow roadways which we learned is very common in Italy, especially for properties with great view points. Secondly, Adrian is an amazing host. Full and detailed instructions on how to get to the property (I highly recommend printing his instructions) and how to access the keys and entry points. Wonderful recommendations for local restaurants and grocery stores which were very helpful. We loved the documented history of the villa and it's pieces of art. Adrian was incredibly responsive with any questions and needs we had were taken care of immediately.

Stunning villa with a fantastic host!

My family and my sister-in-law's family (4 adults and 4 children aged 9-12) just spent a fantastic two weeks (late August 2022) at Villa Elefanti. The surroundings are stunning - it's on the top of a hill so you really do get 360 degree views. The photos on here don't do it justice. The villa itself is great - very large, well kept, and has everything you'd expect to find already there. There's a well stocked kitchen, the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms smart and large. Not that we spent much time indoors, but there's plenty of space for internal living during colder months of the year. Wifi/mobile reception is great (not that's what we went on holiday for, but nevertheless useful for doing research for day trips etc). The pool is fantastic - clean, large enough for two families, an infinity edge to one side, and provides much needed relief from the hot sun! There are plenty of loungers, chairs and sunshades around it. There are four separate outdoor tables for eating, each big enough for 8 people and a pizza oven on the terrace that we used twice. Stimigliano is a 20 minute walk away and is a friendly, small village, there are a couple of options for eating out - we would highly recommend 'A Casa Mia' in the old town. A couple of well-stocked supermarkets are less than a ten-minute drive away. There's plenty to do less than an hour away, notably Rome itself (we tagged a couple of days on at the end of trip there and also went to an AS Roma match on the middle Monday), but also several towns (Orvieto is recommended) and Lake Bracciano. Finally, Adrian is a wonderful host - very helpful, responsive and friendly (we communicated via WhatsApp). All the guidance notes were great and covered everything you'd expect them to and more. Thank you, Adrian!

Paradise!

We have taken a villa for our annual summer break for some time now and try to vary where we go. I found Villa Elefanti on the HomeAway website and it seemed perfect for our needs. The booking process was seamless with the owner Adrian being incredibly helpful and informative. We duly booked for two weeks…. On our arrival we were immediately taken by the spectacular location of this villa - it is very private and secluded and has breathtaking views from all sides of the property. The view over the infinity pool is particularly special - something you never tired of. The large pool is one of the best we have experienced with easy access and a very convenient ledge running along one side - perfect for sunbathing and reading! The villa itself is amazing in every respect. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable with excellent bathrooms (a treat to have such excellent showers). We loved the well-equipped kitchen with a large table on the terrace right outside where we had most of our meals. In fact you can eat in various locations so you can vary this accordingly. It was hot whilst we were there so we didn't really use any of the indoor sitting rooms but they were spacious and well furnished and I can see them being a real bonus in the Spring/Autumn. The wifi was excellent and enabled us to stream the test matches from the UK; our daughters were able to use their IPads and kindles to download and watch programmes in the evenings. The area is perfect for exploring. Being so close to Rome, the transfer was very straight-forward and took no more than an hour each time. Adrian's instructions/directions are first class so, even though the villa is in a remote location, there was no danger in getting lost. The girls had a great day out in the capital (very convenient and cheap train service form the village station) and we ventured further afield to visit the Villas Adriano & Deste and the incredible Bagnoregio which is a must visit. We ate out twice at the De Lina restaurant as recommended and they served the most wonderful pizzas with house wine at an incredible 4 Euros! We struggled to get the bill to over 12 euros a head! All in all, we had a holiday of a lifetime and felt very spoilt to be based at Villa Elefanti - it is truly a magical place and I recommend it wholeheartedly and unreservedly. The owner and his handyman Adriano couldn't have been more helpful and were always available to us. We will certainly return one day.

Dear Mark, Our enjoyment of Villa Elefanti and its location align very much with your family's. It is easy to enjoy 'real Italy' around Stimigliano, and the local Italian's are not 'tourist weary' and show it! And travelling to Rome quickly demonstrates the differences in prices of a major (and wonderful!) tourist destination from an Italy priced for Italians. Fortunately, its easy and cheap to return to the tranquility of Villa Elefanti. Thank you for your review, which will help others decide between the huge number of opportunitis available to them, and we look forward to welcoming you and your friends back again. Best wishes, Adrian

Italian paradise!

We stayed at Villa Elefanti for one week in May with our big family of 7 (2 adults and 5 teenagers). Arriving at the house, the only word that we could utter was 'WOW'. And the 'wows' got bigger and bigger as we explored the house and grounds. We could not believe our luck to have found such a gem. The house is perfectly positioned with 360 degree views - the photos are amazing but the reality is a million times better. Everywhere you look there are stunning views of the countryside, of beautiful villages and the mountains in the distance. Outside the property, we were spoilt for choice as to where to sit - all terraces and the pool area are beautiful for enjoying alfresco dining. Inside the property, the standard of decor is top spec. We could not believe the beauty of the furniture, decorations, ornaments. The rooms are huge, as are the 'many' bathrooms. We were spoiled for choice as to where to sit inside too (not that we sat inside much). We didn't even have chance to use the lower sitting room or dining room. The house is perfectly equipped, containing everything you would have at home (and more in our case!). The equipment is also of a very high standard. We were simply in heaven all week. The beauty of the house made us very lazy and we only ventured out a couple of times: once to Rome on the train from Stimi - very easy! We chose the day that forecast thunder storms in Stimi. Amusing as we returned to the house to rain and thunder, when the electricity had shorted out. Luckily thanks to the plethora of information provided by Adrian, we were able to sort out the electric gates and also return the power to the house. Aside from that, we only ventured out to visit the local supermarkets, and to Da Lina and RosMarino restaurants - both amazing! We didn't want to waste a minute our week away from this paradise. My sister and I don't speak Italian, but thanks to 2 months of Italian podcasts and a phrase book, we were able to get by throughout the week using our very stilted Italian. The locals were so friendly (and amused/impressed) - despite being in true Italy, we never once felt out of place or unwelcome. Our negative is that we think that Villa Elefanti has probably ruined every future holiday we will have, as nothing will ever be as perfect. We are now desperately researching how buy property abroad, because we would love to have somewhere even 1% as nice as this place. Thank you Adrian and Lena so much. We hope to be back someday. x

Dear Rachel and Stephanie and teenagers, Thank you for your very full review. It's very gratifying to read when people enjoy just the things we do! I was a little concerned when I started to read of your "Our negative is....".... but pleased to think that there is no need for you to buy somewhere overseas, you can just come back again to Villa Elefanti! Apart from Rome, there is plenty to explore in the area, without venturing far: my notes suggest a few places as you know. Your family would also (just) fit into my Zermatt apartment: http://www.homeaway.co.uk/p1079368 . And summer is low season there! Best wishes, Adrian

Wonderful Italian retreat!

One part of us (like others) wants to keep this place a secret, it is such a gem, whilst the other part wants to ensure it remains available to use again! The pictures (although lovely) almost don't do it justice, particularly the views, which are unbelievably stunning. And the amenities are great, just what we needed from a week long getaway, especially the pool, which was very accommodating for our 2 small children. Adrian was incredibly helpful, both prior to and throughout our stay. We are very much looking forward to our next visit!

Villa a 5 stelle!

Great views and a spacious well equipped property.

The very detailed pictorial directions helped us find the property (up a steep rough drive) with no difficulty. It was everything I hoped., even better than in the photographs.Throughout our weeks stay I never stopped being amazed by the beautiful views (including some fabulous sunsets) The kitchen was very well equipped (including decent sharp knives, a first in my villa experience) and the showers excellent. The beds were large and very comfy. It was spotless on arrival, with milk and wine in the fridge. Perched on the hillside the views from the sparkling pool (with loads of loungers and seating) were wonderful, yet at the same time the villa felt very private. I can highly recommend the porcetta from the market in Stimigliano (we got to try some before buying) and the local Simply supermarket (only 5 mins away by car) is well stocked. Conad (10 mins) is much bigger with a fish counter. There aren’t that many non Italians around so don’t bank on English being spoken but everyone in shops and restaurants seemed really friendly (especially with my attempts at a few halting Italian phrases) The transport links to so many places were one of the reasons I chose this villa as it is easy to get onto the main autostrada (we’d already spent a week in Rome so didn’t try the train, but I would in future now I have a feel for the location). In the end we only went to Tivoli (the fabulous Villa D’Este with its fountains and gardens is surprisingly quiet). It was just so relaxing and comfortable at Villa Elephanti that we couldn’t tear ourselves away. There is no air conditioning although large fans are provided. My husband found this fine although maybe in high summer even these would not be sufficient for everyone. The owner was very helpful in the information he provided about facilities and the location of the many nearby restaurants (you definitely do need a car). He also responded very quickly to any queries we had both before and during our trip. Without a doubt one of the nicest villas I’ve stayed in - we had a fabulous time and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property.

Thank you Helen and Tim. We imported the beds from Switzerland, and I keep sharpening the kitchen knives to be able to enjoy cooking with the local ingredients. We find lots of the fruit and veggies so much more flavourful than when purchased in UK or Switzerland. On occasion Italian garlic has made our eyes water when peeled! Come again and see us, please: the views will still be there. Best wishes, Adrian

Wonderful experience

This wonderful villa surpassed our expectations. There were 6 of us and it was more than ample Adrian thought of everything. We hope to return to Italy and villa Elefanti to swim in the lovely pool and rekindle the warmth that was present with Adriana, Maria and their wonderful family. There was never a barrier with the language we all just worked it out with a little help from duo lingo. The Italian ruins are everywhere with tour guides to explain. I can not thank homeaway enough for offering this lovely villa, you were there always when we needed your assistance. Thank you again.

Dear Yvonne and party, I know from our correspondence that you were so looking forward to your visit to Italy from the US, and it's also so good to hear that you were not disappointed ! It seems you got around a lot from the Villa as a base, you told me you even went to Venice, and yet still managed to enjoy Villa Elefanti itself. Your review will assist others wondering which of the many properties on offer to book: no one wants a bad experience. Thank you for visiting, and we look forward to seeing you again. Adrian

A great place

We had a great time at the villa. It's a fabulous location, with a very interesting and warm feel to the place. Plenty of room and lots of outdoor settings. It was very clean and well appointed inside and outside. The swimming pool was terrific, with an infinity edge looking out to the great countryside. It was large too. It is close to the main road route into Rome and places like Orvieto. Stimi is a small hilltop village, but the main square has a couple of bars and the supermarkets are just down the hill, so a quick drive. All in all we simply had a great time there.

It stole our hearts, peacefull with great views

Villa Elefanti with its stunning panoramic view over hills, has stole our hearts. It has a beautifull garden and a big pool. The villa was well equipped. This peaceful place met all our expectations. The pool is set in a lovely location away from the house and the terraces offers outstanding views. The local restaurants are about 5 min drive, provided excellent service, advice and food. Great info and guidance from the owner before arrival and no problems while at the house, many thanks!

Adrian
