Wonderful property

Gorgeous house, great location for getting about by all modes of Transport. Host was really great, checking in to ensure we were ok and had all we needed. Village is lovely. A wonderful stay.

Great stay

The house is immaculate, clean and very well equipped. The garden was lovely to sit in and enjoy the sunshine.It was very handy having your own parking space at the house. We were down visiting our son and the house was in an ideal location for us, walking distance to shops, pubs and the railway station. The very generous welcome basket was much appreciated after a very long drive. We wish we could of stayed longer! Hope to be back in the future.

Clean, quiet, comfortable property

The property was well presented and clean, warm, comfortable and very quiet. The location was excellent with bus and train within walking distance and ample parking. There were supermarkets, restaurants and the village shops within walking distance. The kitchen was well equipped for self catering with all equipment in working order. The owners were friendly and accommodating and responsive to any questions we had. We really enjoyed our stay in Great Shelford and would have no hesitation in recommending this property to others.

Birthday celebration with family. We were delighted with this well equipped house. Very clean, with thoughtful touches like the welcome hamper. Quiet location but very good local shops etc and great for transport into Cambridge.

There were 5 of us in total. There is plenty of room in the property & a great sized garden for the warmer months. The house has everything that you could possibly need for a stay.

Great home in a lovely village

A beautiful, clean, comfortable well equipped holiday home in a great spot. Communication with Elise was great and we really appreciated the welcome pack of essentials. The house is steps from several pubs (which we tried) and a really great wine bar. There is also a couple of mini supermarkets and a great deli and bakery. Which we also made good use of! As two adult couples we had a great time. Thanks for having us.

Perfect property for visiting Cambridge.

Hard to find fault with this property which is spacious and comfortable. Would highly recommend and certainly happy to return should we find ourselves visiting Cambridge again. Less than 10min drive to the park and ride for Cambridge city centre and a short walk to local shops.

Perfect Break with Sisters

We had such a great relaxing time at this beautifully comfortable, spacious and immaculate home in the picturesque village of Great Shelford. The location is superb, a few minutes walk from local shops, cafes, pub and restaurants and everyone we met was so friendly. Also a pretty walk along Jenny's Path next to a farm. Quintessential English village with beautiful quirky thatched houses everywhere. Elise the owner was so friendly and paid such lively kind attention to detail, making our stay so pleasurable. Great place to stay!

We had a lovely stay. House had everything we could possibly want, very good. We felt very comfortable ans plan to come back next year. Nice village with shop, pub, butcher, and baker, plus good chinese restauranr. Good access to park and ride for Cambridge.

A peaceful retreat

Elise greeted us & showed around this wonderful house. We were provided with a substantial welcome pack that was so appreciated & well used for breakfast & nibbles. We travel a lot staying in lots of different places & the house was the best equipped home we have ever stayed in & everything was top notch quality. Amazing House

The best.

The house is exactly like the pictures. It is spotlessly clean. The host has anticipated her guests every need. We were welcomed in person by the host and given a tour. Essentials were all in the house - coffee, tea, white towels, bathroom essentials. It all made a super relaxing stay. Great Shelford is a quaint, picturesque village with excellent amenities. Pubs, bakers beautiful houses, countryside and a lovely children’s play park. All a stones throw from Cambridge.

Just what we needed…

A ‘home from home’ in lovely Great Shelford with a kind host, helped to make a brief stay in Cambridge for an important appointment much more bearable and I would recommend it as a fantastic base for anyone planning to visit Cambridge for work, holiday or anything else.

Fab weekend in Great Shelford

A beautiful, superbly equipped & furnished property got my wife's birthday weekend off to a great start. Lovely welcome from Elise and a great 'Welcome' pack in the kitchen. Ideally situated; 5 mins from the Park & Ride for Cambridge, friendly pub 100 metres down the road. and good selection of restaurants within 5-10 mins walk. A real home-from-home, best property we've stayed in. Thanks Elise :)

New Year's family celebration

Beautiful house with everything you could want. We have stayed in many properties, and this was by far the best equipped, with plenty of utensils, crockery, glasses etc. All the furniture and fittings were lovely. Unfortunately one of our family ended up in hospital, but Elise couldn't have been more helpful and sympathetic. Would thoroughly recommend this property, and would love to stay again.

Great house. Would recommend!

3 of us stayed in this great house for 2 nights. We loved how thoughtful the host was in providing things around the house such as milk, butter, slippers, etc. We also appreciate how well decorated the house was. The only issue was that our taxi drivers got lost trying to find the house each morning because of the address, but that was a minor issue. If you're looking for a nice place to stay in while visiting Cambridge or the surrounding areas, myself and my friends all highly recommend this place!

Everything was perfect. Beautifully decorated. Location was great - pub with great food , supermarket, chemist - all very close. Enclosed private outdoor yard. Thanks to Elise for making our stay so enjoyable.

We have lived in Great Shelford since 2001 and live very close to this holiday rental. We work from home so are usually around to help guests with any queries. We really want you to enjoy the house and the area and leave feeling pampered and refreshed after your stay.

We love our Old Pound Yard house. Although in the centre of this busy village it is set back from the road and is a peaceful, calm sanctuary. Prior to refurbishing the house completely as a holiday home, we rented it as a long term let and our previous tenants all fell in love with its space and tranquility.

Old Pound Yard is walking distance to local supermarkets, pubs, a station, bus stops, restaurants, a park and recreation ground, takeaways, bakery, butchers, chemist and library - to name but a few local amenities. The house has private off road parking for up to 3 cars, right outside the front door. There is a lovely walled garden and french doors from the living room and dining room onto the patio. Another unique factor is the artwork around the house which is all painted by local artist Astrig Akseralian, Elise's sister - and if anything grabs your attention all the paintings are available for sale !
