The Story Book Cottage is a gem of a property in the quaint town of Carmel-by-the-Sea just two blocks from Carmel Plaza and a short walk to the beach. This 2 bedroom 2 bath home which sleeps up to 6 offers indoor-outdoor living with 4 outdoor seating areas and an easy-to-use gas firepit.The Story Book Cottage offers 2 bedrooms (1 king bed, 1 queen bed) and 2 full baths (with shower and tub) plus a cozy sitting room with a Queen sofa bed that overlooks the garden.
"Loved our stay at this darling renovated cottage. Nearly everything is new and clean while appointed with tasteful personal details. The house is so close to town but is surprisingly quiet and a quick walk to hiking trails. We love the multiple conversation areas throughout the property - inside and out. And as foodies we really appreciated the excellent quality cookware and knife set" S.T. May 2025
The Primary suite offers a King bed with custom-made mattress, gas fireplace, sitting area, and access to our sunny back garden & deck. Enjoy the magic of indoor-outdoor living as all rooms open onto outdoor sitting areas. Your stay will be enhanced by designer furniture, authentic Tibetan rugs, custom-made mattresses, and stunning original artwork throughout. All of our rooms open onto a porch and all of our porches view newly professionally planted gardens.
It's an easy walk everywhere in Carmel By the Sea from the Story Book Cottage. Walk to the beach and view the homes along Scenic Drive, walk to Carmel Plaza for wine tasting, boutique shopping, or visit our favorite cheese shop and microbrewery. Or check out some of our best-known wine tasting rooms like The Annex or Scheid Vineyards.

I absolutely love this location with its easy walk to Ocean Ave or the Carmel Plaza or right into the woodsy trails of the Mission trails nearby. Just 10minutes and you are walking along Scenic Drive (but don’t have to deal with crowds when you are ready to retreat home!)

The Story Book cottage captured our attention for its easy indoor-outdoor living, its many gathering spaces, but also its ability to find privacy. Lovely ground floor living makes it easy for all generations to enjoy!
