VRBO charges a fee. That is the company the guest booked the property through. The rest of her booking was paid to us. She paid only what was agreed to. We never charge any extra fee. You can see the lake from every room in this house. There is not “one small window that looks out at the lake”. The house is a brand new log home and is not drafty. She wrote this review because she wanted to check in very early for free. We gave her a one hour early check in but she wanted more. We love our guests and this business, but occasionally you have people who are untruthful. Please read our other truthful reviews.

As for the lake access and home layout — our property is specifically designed and equipped for families with young children. The lake steps are standard for Smith Mountain Lake properties and are no steeper than typical waterfront homes in the area. We’re sorry the property didn’t align with what your family needed for this particular trip, but we’re confident it’s an excellent fit for families looking for a child-friendly lake experience.
