Black River Road Retreat- located near Lake Superior and Copper Peak

This is a private home on 40 acres surrounded by woods and wetlands. This is a very secluded place with lots of peace and quiet to be had (the closest neighbor is 1/4 mile away). This is a perfect base for exploring the Northwoods and all of the things to see nearby. There is a big yard with ample parking and space for trailers and campers.

The space:

The house is modestly furnished and all essentials are there. Cookware, dishes, linens, towels, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, drip coffee maker, T.V., and stereo (Bluetooth enabled), are all provided. There is a queen size bed in the master bedroom with a private bathroom. Two single beds in another bedroom and a bunkbed set in the third bedroom.
There is free WiFi!

Interaction with guests:

We live nearby and can be reached for any issues or advise on what to do in the area. Generally guests check in and out, without us being there at all. :)

Other things to note:

There is not a better location for access to the area! We are 5 minutes from Copper Peak ski jump (which you can ride to the top of). There is great Mtn. biking at Copper Peak as well as the Wolverine ski and bike trail about 10 minutes away. We are 10min from Lake Superior and the beautiful waterfalls of Black River Harbor, as well as numerous other waterfalls that are to many to mention.

There is great fishing and boat launch to access Lake Superior at the harbor. The house is right across the street from the Black River with great fishing, paddling, or sometimes just a leisurely float on a hot day.

The house is near the snowmobile/4wheeler access trail, that is connected to the rest of the UP and Northern Wisconsin.

It's 5 min from Big Powderhorn Mtn. ski area, and 15min to Indianhead/Blackjack ski areas. Whitecap Ski area is about 1/2 hour away and the Porcupine Mountains state park and ski area is about an hour away.

Downtown Ironwood/Hurley is about a 15Min drive.

We recently stayed at Jason’s retreat! It was perfect for our family and our dog. House was spacious for us, had what we needed to use, and close to the water falls, Lake Superior and much more. A Superior Visit

This was our second visit to the Black River Road Retreat. Had a great time finding waterfalls and visiting the Black River Harbor beach. The retreat was a great base to explore the area. It feels remote, but you are only really a few minutes from anything you need. This trip, one in our group needed medical attention and the Aspirus walk in clinic was great!

Jason’s house is a great place to stay. Close to Ironwood, Lake Superior, and other local destinations, it’s convenient and comfortable. We had fun walking around the property too! I would recommend to family and friends, and look forward to staying here again.

Great location!

We explored the Ironwood area and this was a great location for our "home". It was close to the waterfalls, Little Girls Point Beach, Black River Harbor, downtown Ironwood and Bessemer, Cooper Head Peak. Beautiful area! Even woke up to deer eating the apples in the front yard.

Little piece of paradise

The property was wonderful. Our dogs loved being able to run around on the acreage and we loved walking the property. It’s close enough to town to be accessible but far enough out you feel like you’re part of nature. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Patriotic Stay

This was the perfect place for our family to stay. We were visiting extended family for a reunion and 4th of July festivities. The home had everything we needed and we enjoyed some of the outside space as well. Communication with the owner was great. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you.

Huge lot retreat in UP

President’s weekend at Powderhorn

Welcoming the new year

Nice getaway

Very comfy. There is room for lots of people. Set up well, had everything we needed. Great place for our senior dog who doesn't do so well with a lot of steps. House is centerly located and easy to get to.

Up north feel!

We love to travel and particularly love the UP! This was the perfect location for exploring Countless waterfalls, the black river scenic byway, the porcupine mountains, and Ironwood. Copper Peak ski flying hill is just a few miles down the road, which was absolutely spectacular! You can’t beat comfortable beds and a well-stocked house to stay in!

Dogs loved it!

Great place for the entire family including our dogs! Ample room to run and sniff! They are exhausted. Us adults and one teen all felt comfortable and home was clean! Honestly the perfect location to all the waterfalls and attractions you would want to see. We can’t wait to come back next year!

Snow vacation

My husband and I (and our 2 dogs) stayed at Black River Road Retreat for two weeks of snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. We had a blast and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The house was located in a perfect area with lots of hiking/snowshoeing trails and cross-country ski trails close by. The house was clean, and comfortable and met all of our needs. The house was equipped with everything we needed for cooking, sleeping or just hanging out. The beds were very comfortable too. Jason (the landlord) was great too. He answered our questions right away and was very friendly. I can't say enough good things about the house, the area, and our stay, it was fantastic!

Great location and comfortable home

This is a nice home with a lot of extras. It is really close to the waterfalls, copper peak, and Black River Beach. It’s only 25 minutes from Little Girls Point. The property itself has some nice trails to enjoy and is pet friendly. It is stocked with plenty of dishes for full meal prep as well as a dishwasher and laundry. We stayed a week and were very comfortable and enjoyed walking our two dogs on the property’s trails each evening. The host is very friendly and accommodating.

There is not a better location for access to the area! We are 5 minutes from Copper Peak ski jump (which you can ride to the top of). There is great Mtn. biking at Copper Peak as well as the Wolverine ski and bike trail about 10 minutes away. We are 10min from Lake Superior and the beautiful waterfalls of Black River Harbor, as well as numerous other waterfalls that are to many to mention.

There is great fishing and boat launch to access Lake Superior at the harbor. The house is right across the street from the Black River with great fishing, paddling, or sometimes just a leisurely float on a hot day.

The house is ON the snowmobile/4wheeler trail, that is connected to the rest of the UP and Northern Wisconsin.

It's 5 min from Big Powderhorn Mtn. ski area, and 15min to Indianhead/Blackjack ski areas. Whitecap Ski area is about 1/2 hour away and the Porcupine Mountains state park and ski area is about an hour away.

Downtown Ironwood/Hurley is about a 15Min drive.

Pets ARE welcome!

We do NOT have internet we are to far out in the country, and cell service is intermittent.

Our property will take you to the peace and quiet that you’ve been looking for. The closest neighbor is to the south, an half mile away. Enjoy the canopy of stars, while having a campfire. Plenty of outdoor space for all, including a play set, and plenty of room for your trailered toys.
