Great Getaway Weekend

Location was fantastic. Small town, but has a lot of stuff around: brewery, downtown, lake access, grocery stores, and a nice waterside restaurant nearby. The place was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. Great place in a great town!

Great place

This place was very cute, clean and had everything we needed. We brought bikes and loved how we could take a 5 minute bike ride right into town. We spent almost everyday at the beach, the beach in Elk Rapids is the best beach I’ve been to. Awesome sunsets.

Great clean rental. So convenient to downtown Elk Rapids. From this place you can walk a anywhere. We so enjoyed our stay. We will definitely re t again.

Fantastic Experience

No words can express my delight with the owners, the property and my stay. Even though the weather wasn't the best, it was ideal for me. I was able to spend time with my grandkids and my family as well as some quiet time for me. I look forward to again staying at this property!

Overall good experience

The location was great, just a mile from Elk Lake. The house was good size for my family of 5. Some issues were there was a bar behind the house playing loud music most nights. This was not advertised in the listing. No AC was listed; however, one the days it got to be 85° and higher there was not a way to stay cool in the house. Even with all the fans on and the screened windows open.

Misleading and bad location

The photos of this cottage are very misleading. The house is located off a main street on a side street in a less than desirable neighborhood. The home inside is fine but there is no air conditioning, which the home owner should highlight in their posting.Upon arriving and seeing the location and realizing there was no A/C, we contacted the home owner who agreed to give us a refund as we were unhappy. We checked out and paid a lot more for last minute hotel accommodations and then the homeowner did not fully honor their word. I have stayed at many homes through HomeAway.com and never been disappointed like we were with this cottage. I hope this is a one off for HomeAway and not their new standard. This was a horrible first day of our vacation and a wasted day! Do not book this cottage in the summer or you will roast or you could open the windows which is what we were told and listen to the barking dogs next door.

What I wish I knew before booking…

The pro’s for this listing is that the cabin was, for the most part, as described. A little small, but not too far from Elk Rapids. However, I wish I would have known more about the situation with the owners, before booking this listing. I booked about 6-9 months ahead, and was sent an additional rental agreement to sign, outside of VRBO’s platform, three weeks before I was to arrive, with the caveat that I would receive checkin instructions once I signed it. This made me feel uncomfortable, but I did sign it. The trip itself went fine, and at the end I followed the lengthy check out instructions. In fact, the owner text me additional instructions on top of what was listed, the morning of check out, which I also completed. I then took photos of the house before I left, as I always do. The owner then called my personal cell phone and left a harassing voicemail about how angry she was that I did not put the clean dishes from the dishwasher away, and that the carpet runner in the hallway was dirty, and I didn’t sweep a section of the floor. She then proceeded to claim the entire security deposit. The security deposit is for damages to the property. I was completely blindsided by this and have never had an experience anything like this in the many years I’ve rented from VRBO.

Great place to stay

The "Beach House" was a terrific home base while visiting ER. Updated, clean and comfortable. About a mile stroll along the River walk to the quaint village of Elk Rapids. The Host (Christina) was always great with communication before, during and after our stay. We hope to visit again!!!

Summer Vacation

We have friends that live in Elk Rapids. We have been coming here for 5 years. We have rented other places that were not as comfortable or nice as this vottage. A plus for this cottage was it was within walking distance to the Village, store, and restaurants. Thank you for a great place. Manny & Maria DeAnda

Elk Rapids Lake Cottage

This is a clean, quiet, comfy cottage. Laundry room was a nice feature, as was your fully equipped kitchen. Easy bike ride or walk to beaches, shops, etc.

Beautiful Elk Rapids Home Amazing Beaches

The property owners were wonderful to communicate with. The house was very clean, seemed pretty new, and near all sorts of beautiful beaches in Elk Rapids. We had everything we needed there.

Little gem in Elk Rapids

This property is close to Elk Rapids and the bay. It's in walking distance to all of the little shops as well as the eating establishments. It's very neat and clean and has plenty of room for everyone. My family love this home and we have it on the list for the next trip to Elk Rapids.

Great property for price. I Failed to read complete description. There is no air conditioning. Even a window unit would have made our stay more enjoyable. Very clean, everything in new condition .

Cozy and convenient

My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was clean, cozy and stocked with basic necessities that makes travel so much easier. The location is convenient for the breweries, groceries, dining and a nice walk to downtown.

Vacation with grandkids

The vacation home was perfect for our stay . In reading all of the previous reviews it helped me decide we should stay there . The bedroom with the queen bed is quite small and with the bedroom door open you have trouble opening the closet door too. . That was fine with us as we only planned to sleep there . I do recommend this place and I’m certain if we plan a trip to Elk Rapids , we will stay there again

Really enjoyed our stay

My wife and I enjoyed staying at the cottage. It was very clean, comfortable, and cozy. It appeared to be recently built or newly remodeled. The kitchen contained all of the supplies we needed to make meals and snacks. The outside scenery was beautiful. It was really nice being close to so many lakes! Although there was no air conditioning, the fans kept us cool for the most part.

Beautifully decorated new lake house situated in beautiful Elk Rapids. Close to lots of what Michigan has to offer. Host was helpful and easy to contact by text.

We chose this place because it has so much to offer. When you can walk or bike to everything you need it can feel like more of a vacation. You can choose to take day trips to so many beautiful places or just lay on the beach and relax. My husband and I and our 3 sons took a day trip to Elk Rapids from Traverse City 4 years ago and fell in love with this quaint town right on Grand Traverse Bay. We had no idea that this beautiful town even existed. . We were lucky enough to fine an open lot and bought it a month later. Now that our Cottage is built we feel privledged to be part of the Elk Rapids community. We would like other families to have the opportunity to experience this wonderful place.

We chose a Beach theme for our Cottage because going to the beach is our favorite thing to do . The most unique benefit of all is the location, you can go and do so many different things by walking or biking. The Village has many things to offer for all ages. You can play Tennis, Basketball or Volleyball on the Beach. There is also a large Play Area for small children by the Beach with many sandtoys to use for the Day.
