Shipyard at Truman Annex

Great location, very clean condo/grounds/pool, condo was starting to show age (had to call in for fridge repair, exterior doors rotting off hinges, bathroom was antiquated in layout, all fan blades were loose and noisy/much better after we tightened).

Needs work.

Great location.This property needs work. Latch is falling off rear gate, cabinet doors are falling apart in kitchen, toilet is to close to shower door, gas grill is not usable, mold on outdoor furniture cushions and paint is peeling from deck furniture, shower head is weak and barely rinses your hair, You need to pick up your keys at an office that is far away from property and deal with your luggage and taxi, how about a lock box at the property? Will not use Compass realty again.

The toilet is located between the vanity top, and the shower doors, and the space is really notSufficient for a larger person, such as myself. I don’t know if it’s ADA compliant- you might want to mention or point this out to future rentals.The unit also needs better cleaning between rentals.The grout ( floor grout) in bathroom is very dirty. The small area rug around coffee table in living room needs cleaning.The A/C’s and ceiling fans worked great.

Beware of the Compass Realty Contract

I can’t evaluate Manatee at Truman Annex, because although we rented it, and we paid for it, we were switched by Compass Realty into a totally different unit. Compass requires a contract that contains a clause that essentially says that Compass can put you in any unit they want, for almost any reason, and if the customer challenges it, Compass is the sole arbiter of the matter. Here’s what happened in our case. We booked Manatee as it is all on one level and my wife has difficulty climbing stairs. We received check-in instructions one week before check in. I called Compass within an hour of receiving the instruction because it looked to me as though we were switched. I spoke to a woman at Compass who assured me that we would be in the unit we booked, and that “my confusion” was because the listing site uses “approximate” addresses, and they likely used the address of the nearby guard shack. Taking her word for it, we arrived on check in day and were given keys. Upon arrival at the unit, it was clear we had been switched. The biggest problem was a two-story with both bedrooms on the second floor, and a very steep stair. I called the Compass office and a male who answered did acknowledge that we were placed in another unit. He also gave me a verbal finger wagging, and was delighted to say, “you signed a contract” with an implied nanananana. We spent a week in the other unit and my wife was forced to sleep on a sofa on the first level. I do admit that I only did a cursory scan of the contract and was legally duped by Compass. The one thing I don’t understand is why the woman lied when I called. She knew just like the verbal finger wagger that we had signed their contract and they had us roped and tied.
