My wife and I recently hosted our two daughters, their husbands, and our 4 grandchildren at this gorgeous Sebastopol-area chateau for a week, and everyone had an absolutely lovely time. The young people made themselves and their families at home in the 4 spacious bedrooms on the second floor of the main house, while my wife and I took the separate guest cottage (well out of earshot of crying babies). During waking hours, the family spent time together in the comfortable living room, at poolside (the pool features a motorized retractable cover, an important safety feature if your group includes small children), and at the large outdoor dining table, where we usually ate dinner. The 7-acre property is stunning, with a fruit orchard and a bountiful garden of herbs, berries, and other edibles. There is a vineyard next door, which makes a pretty sight and reminds you that you are indeed in wine country. The house is on a quiet road, with very little traffic, but it is less than 15 minutes to Sebastopol, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. It is very convenient for biking, and I enjoyed a couple of nice rides while we were there. The kitchen is well-equipped, and everything worked. Bottom line: great property for a family getaway, and everyone in our tribe loved it. We definitely would go back.
