Two-Story Downtown Home with King Bed and Private Parking

Park in the spot that is yours alone and walk out into downtown: coffee at Loyal and dinner on Tejon are five minutes on foot, and the Pikes Peak region opens up from there. This two-level home is built for two. Upstairs is a king bedroom under exposed beams and a kitchen with a dishwasher, electric range, coffee and tea, and a table for four. Downstairs is where the evening lands, a living room with an electric fireplace, a smart TV, and a queen sofa bed, plus a full bath with a walk-in shower.

Honest notes: the central staircase is steep and narrow and is not suitable for limited mobility. There is no central air, cooling is a window AC unit plus plug-in fans, so the home is at its best autumn through spring. It is compact and best for two. No laundry in the unit, though a laundromat is on the block. Quiet hours 10 PM.

The property served our purposes since it was just myself and my daughter, and we were there for a competition. But the space was very small, so not terrible well suited for more than 2 people. We had a few issues with the bathroom, and although the host responded quickly, the issue wasn't resolved during our stay. Also, the location was immediately next to what I would guess is a halfway home, so we had some very interesting characters try and interact with us when we were coming and going. It is also across from the police station and 2 nights of our stay there was protests, which was annoying - but minor. One recommendation to the host would be to have a booklet of check-in/check-out instructions, along with recommendations for activities and dining. The info came through in the app, but we were unaware the parking pass needed to be returned and ended up tossing it when we returned our car at the airport.Overall, this place was just ok. We've stayed at many other rentals, and this didn't top the list, but it was reasonable priced and the host was mostly responsive. A few fixes would make a nice upgrade.

Sun Mountain Stays hosts this home. Check-in is a keypad code, so you arrive on your own time. We keep it light-touch: quick to answer through the app, out of your way otherwise, and hands-on when it counts. When a guest flagged the heat one summer, a second cooling unit went in downstairs that same day. Ask us for the local list, we point people to Loyal for coffee and 420 Pizza for an easy dinner. A week or a month works here too, so message us for a custom rate.

On the southern edge of downtown, a block or two off S Tejon Street and directly across from the police headquarters, which is what makes leaving a car out overnight a non-issue. Walk to Loyal Coffee, Phantom Canyon Brewing, the COATI food hall, and Poor Richard's, with 420 Pizza close by for an easy dinner and the Pioneers Museum about a block away.
