Our recent family trip to Myrtle Beach, SC, unfortunately turned into a one-night ordeal.We had planned to check into our condo at 4:00 PM, so we spent some time exploring the area and having dinner beforehand. Upon arriving at the condo, we did our usual walkthrough to make sure everything was in order before bringing in our belongings.To our shock and disappointment, the condo was in an unacceptable condition. It had clearly not been cleaned prior to our arrival. The trash can was overflowing, the dining table was covered with garbage and leftover food, the beds looked unmade, as if someone had just gotten out of them, and the toilets were clogged. Dirty clothes, towels, and trash were scattered throughout the unit. I immediately called the host but received no answer. He did respond quickly via text, saying he was assisting another family and asked what we needed. I explained the situation, making it clear that the condo was filthy and unfit for my family to stay in. He apologized and assured me that we would receive a full refund. Due to multiple events happening in the area, finding alternate accommodations for a family of six on such short notice proved impossible. As a result, we made the difficult decision to return home that same night. The following Monday, I reached out to both the host and Vrbo to check on the status of our refund. The host never responded and Vrbo promised me a follow up. Since then I’ve heard nothing further and no refund has been issue.
