It was perfect! The minute we walked through the door we felt at home. I have never stayed in a carriage house so I was unsure what the experience would be like. Jen and Mike were the perfect hosts. Plus it is in the perfect location from campus and downtown. We will absolutely return!

Mike and Jen are Townies and Penn State grads who moved back to State College in 2006. Jen is a local interior designer and hospitality professional. Mike is the property manager and local businessman. They love hosting others and showcasing their one of a kind home in downtown State College.

The Highlands neighborhood in downtown state college is a mix of single family homes and student rentals. The Fairmount property is located at the corner of Burrowes and Fairmount Avenue, just several blocks from downtown and walking distance to the Penn State campus, Beaver Stadium, Bryce Jordan Center, and Pegula Ice Arena, as well as many other athletic venues.

In the heart of downtown State College, this remarkable 1922 stone home-designed by noted architect A. Lawrence Kocher. A classic Georgian Four Square layout with a large entry foyer opening to all main rooms allowing for unparalleled entertaining. Thoughtful original details throughout the home include crown molding, real wood floors, French doors to most rooms on first floor, stairway railing and windows. Care has been taken by current owners to bring the home into a new modern era without eliminating the character and visual appeal of this period masterpiece. The Carriage house and Basement Suite both have private entrances and make for excellent hospitality spaces.
