Unfortunately, we didn't get to stay here. We booked the place months in advance, and when I didn't receive check-in instructions the day before as promised, I wrote to the host. Still nothing the next morning. On the plane, we received an email that the reservation was cancelled due to environmental damage. It seemed like an auto-generated email: nothing personal, no apology. We were stunned - on our way to L.A. for a family vacation over winter break and we suddenly had no place to stay! Our payment was refunded, but that didn't help our accommodation challenge. I had to write to the owner several times to get more information. He finally said that they had damage from the recent rains, but still no real apology or sensitive communication in terms of leaving us in a lurch. Of course we understand that things happen, but the communication was unacceptable. We were really looking forward to staying here, and luckily we did find another place to stay (while frantically searching on our plane flight!)
