We’re disappointed by this review, as several claims are inaccurate or missing context. For future guests, here are the facts: The French doors have a functioning chain lock and deadbolt. Had we been notified it was not working, we would have sent our handyman immediately. This door opens into a fenced, locked backyard, not a public space. The report of a “vagrant” lingering is unusual because the neighborhood is quiet, safe, and has no history of transients—locals often walk dogs in the area. All windows and doors are accurately shown in the listing photos. Some have coverings and some do not. The uncovered windows face the private fenced backyard, except for a small kitchen window shielded by a large tree. We use professional cleaners, and licensed pest control recently treated the home. A dead insect after treatment may occur. No cleaning concerns were reported during the stay—had we been notified, we would have addressed them promptly. The fridge has no documented issues, and past guests have used it without complaint. It has since been checked and works properly. Original wood floors may creak, which is characteristic of the home’s age, not disrepair. The listing clearly discloses nearby construction. This is outside our control and visible prior to booking. The guest left without giving us any opportunity to resolve concerns. We stand by the accuracy of the listing, our responsiveness, and our positive hosting history.
