This is a small, efficiently organized, and sparkling clean studio. Communication with the owner was outstanding--he checked in to make sure everything was working well for me and responded within minutes when I had a question.

This unit is small but cozy, peaceful, and beautifully designed with thoughtful care and an artistic eye. I stayed here for a solo creative retreat, and the space was perfect for this purpose! I ran into a couple issues, but the hosts were friendly and went above and beyond to fix things quickly and enthusiastically. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. I will gladly return if I am in this area again. This space is best for visitors who are comfortable with winding roads, stairs, and have sufficient mobility to climb a ladder, if you want to take advantage of the loft bed.

Everything you could need in a lovely studio with heated bathroom floor, full kitchen (except no freezer), comfortable bed for 2 and loft bed for one more if needed.

Delightful modern hillside retreat

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful studio. The architectural design and tasteful decor contributed to a cozy winter getaway. The location is ideal with easy access to Berkeley, Oakland, and San Francisco. Montclair Village is a hidden gem. Our hosts were great and we appreciated their warm welcome (the wine and fruit basket were an added treat). We felt well taken care of in this home away from home. We hope to return in the future.

Beautifully conceived and crafted “Dwell” Magazine style Oakland getaway. Top of the line appliances in the mini kitchen. Plenty of room for two. Close to Montclair Village, Highway 13. Short drive to Bart.

Nice, safe location in the hills. Space is pretty cramped, even for just me. Firm, comfy bed. Not much outdoor space (just a bistro table on a landing of steep staircase with nice SF bayview.) Tiny windows don't let in much air, must open doors to get fresh air and then bugs come in. Back door of studio opens right next to the hosts front door. Not the most private. Also no freezer and took forever to get microwave working (had to touch button over 100 times for it to finally come on, multiple times. Super frustrating.) Hosts are nice. Overall ok. I felt it was pretty expensive for what it is.

Clean, Friendly & Helpful

Stayed for a quiet weekend and that’s exactly what happened. Owner is thoughtful to accommodate any special requests and offered information when needed. The view from the deck is fabulous, as the San Francisco skyline is so easy to love. Walking down the stairs to local restaurants and shopping was a breeze and nice workout, although you might want to take a Uber/Lyft if you’ve outdone, or overspent yourself coming back to the studio. Thank you again for tending to my needs and providing a clean and comfortable place to lay my head after a fun filled day.

Exquisite studio

The studio is new, comfortable, and trendy, with modern finishes and quirky art (such as the goose overhead)! The bed is firm and comfortable, with plenty of pillows and blankets provided. There is also plenty of seating, to include a leather couch, three chairs, and a built-in that could realistically be used as another small sleeping area. The kitchenette area provides everything needed for small meals and preparation, to include a refrigerator, microwave, and stovetop. The bathroom is quaint, with two showerheads and a heated floor. The water is plentiful and hot. Although this is a studio, we never saw nor heard any neighbors. And the owner Josh is easily accessible but you won't need to reach him as you'll have a great stay! One possible concern - but only if the renter has mobility issues - is that there are steps leading to and from the studio. The steps are nothing out of the ordinary but just a forewarning for the physically impaired.

This studio apartment was a pleasure to stay in. It is updated, modern and very clean. The neighborhood is spectacular and very quiet. Josh was extremely helpful and easy to communicate with. Every time we had a question, he answered within minutes. We look forward to staying there again!

A Modern apartment in the forested hills of Oakland

When you find yourself arriving at the Studio you'll be surprised, it couldn't possibly be nestled in the heavily forested foothills, have a gorgeous view on San Fran and be as sleek and modern as it looks from the photos. Of course it is, and it's everything as wonderful as the photos paint it to be. With a picturesque view of the city in the distance it's easy to imagine spending years sitting outside with a cup of coffee and a good book with the cool air breezing across the pages. Slipping inside when the day has worn on and grabbing a refreshing shower in the bathroom (using the rainfall shower head of course) and then waving goodbye to the bird before walking down to Montclair. Truly an apartment in the hills to remember. And last but not least are Josh and his wife who were so helpful the entire stay, especially for someone like me who comes woefully unprepared for his friends weddings. If you're looking for a place to getaway for the weekend, or simply for a a better alternative to a hotel - look no further, this is the perfect place for you.

Very friendly and helpful owners. Beautifully designed and furnished, exceptionally clean with great amenities. Located in charming neighborhood with stunning view. The kitchen was fully functioning with oven, stove, dishwasher, micro, frig and bathroom with rain shower and heated bathroom floor.
