Overall, our experience was great and Sarah was very friendly and responsive when I contacted her via the Homeaway app messaging, text, email, and cell phone! The house has been tastefully remodeled in every room and bathroom, with granite countertops and quality fixtures. There were plenty of towels and toilet paper in each bathroom! You could see a peek view of the lake and the house is a mile from Snow Summit, so location is great. A few reasons I did not give a full 5 stars... When we arrived, we had to plow the 2 driveways manually using a shovel. Neighbors told us that the driveways were clear that day but 3 hours before we got there, a tractor had come through and pushed some snow into the driveways...so I don't consider it the fault of the owner, but it would be good for them to have a metal shovel on hand. Only a plastic-y shovel was available and thank goodness a neighbor let us borrow his metal one to cut through the icy snow and saved us a lot of time. Also, the heater vents being in the ceiling caused everyone to have dry throats overnight because the air was blowing directly in our faces, especially in the master bedroom. I'd even suggest bringing a humidifier to combat this. With one of the sleeping areas being a loft, those who slept there didn't sleep too well - they could hear snoring from the other upstairs bedroom with their door closed...so something to keep in mind if you have snorers in your group! The home description advertised a grill, so we brought lots of burgers and hot dogs to cook, but the snow completely surrounded the grill in the backyard and we couldn't use it...so, if traveling during snow season, don't plan on using the grill. There is a small deck outside the kitchen door leading to one of the driveways, but it was covered in a thick layer of snow, so we couldn't enter the house that way. But again, overall it's a great cottage and working with Sarah made my first VRBO rental experience a good one!
