Escape to complete privacy in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains on a secluded 37-acre property at the base of Hunts Peak, located in the exclusive Pine Ridge Ranch community just 25 minutes from downtown Salida, Colorado.
With the nearest neighbor over half a mile away, you’ll experience true Colorado serenity—breathtaking sunrises over the Arkansas Valley, snow-capped peaks to the southwest, and a lush wooded creek below.
Whether you’re planning a rafting trip on the Arkansas River, trail shredding on your mountain bike, a hiking adventure, a ski getaway, or simply a peaceful escape, The Hideaway is the perfect Colorado basecamp.
The Hideaway occupies the entire upper level of a beautifully remodeled home, offering complete privacy during your stay. The lower level is occupied by a long-term tenant, but there are no shared spaces.

On the property you’ll find the foundations of the original schoolhouse, clubhouse, and homes, along with early-20th-century quarries where calcite was mined for the steel industry in Pueblo.
The firepit patio even incorporates part of the original boarding house foundation—a unique piece of local history over 100 years old.

We ultimately chose Howard and this property for its peaceful beauty, wide-open views, and sense of history. It feels wonderfully secluded, yet it’s just minutes from the incredible recreation and charm of the Arkansas River basin.
