Great Stay

The only suggestion is that it really would have been nice to have access to the elevator. Also the hot water situation was disappointing. Hot showers are essential.

Great Potential

This house was beautiful and in a great location! There are just some problems that need addressing:-The hot water in the upstairs bathroom needing 10 minutes to get hot was a challenge.-This property was advertised as having an elevator, but when we arrived, the elevator was unavailable for use.-The fridge water line was not working, so we did not have ice or water from the fridge.-The outdoor shower was not working, which I believe they may have fixed during our stay.-The WiFi was an unsecured network with no password required, which was concerning for our privacy and made it so that we could not use our online baby camera.Other than these inconveniences, we had a great stay!

The house is Beautiful…however hot water problems continue and there is no kitchen ware. Only 2 pots. They were small and non-stick but couldn’t be used because of scratches and flaking of the inner coating. Our guests went downstairs for showers and we ate all meals out except for leftovers brought back for microwave and sandwich stuff.

Beautiful and Spacious, but listing on VRBO needs updating

We enjoyed the house but the check-in instructions were incorrect. WiFi password and internet also incorrect. It’s being managed by a company so when I tried to contact the owner, I was connected to someone who wasn’t in town and not very helpful. I was eventually able to go through the Vacasa app and given info for a local manager who was very responsive and able to help us quickly which i appreciated however the process was frustrating. I was also able to chat through the Vacasa app better and get a few other things such as fixing hot water in a timely manner but the VRBO chat people were unhelpful. Otherwise it was beautiful, good location, clean and comfy. I also recommend more than two wine glasses for a house that can host 12. I would stay again.

The Turtle House, Carolina Beach, NC

Very nice house, nicely located in Carolina Beach. Had issues getting into the house was given bad information concerning entry code/key to the main entrance. We were able to get past that with a call to the help line. The primary problem with this house is, it has an on-demand water heater large enough to supply adequate hot water to a two man tent. If you want to take a hot shower on the top floor you'll need to heat the water on the stove and carry it up three flights of stairs. There is no hot water on the top floor. This issue must be addressed prior to renting to another guest.

Turtle House Oct visit

The house was beautiful and immaculate. But for a 5 bedroom house, some things were not adequate. There were only 4 wineglasses and the table only seats 6. The pots and pans were apartment-sized and bowls weren’t big enough for a large salad. No serving plates and nothing kid proof. There were no games for the kids besides cornhole, although there were boogie boards and life vest for two kids. There was no welcome info or instructions for the house. We went THREE DAYS without hot water for showers or dishes because we didn’t know the water had to run for almost TEN MINUTES before it would begin to get warm. Guest services was very responsive and the handyman arrived promptly but he didn’t show us how to get the water warm ourselves. Also, the room situation was not correct. There were three bedrooms with king beds, one room with two twins, and supposedly another bedroom with a queen bed. Unfortunately the queen was the bottom bunk of a bunk bed which was uncomfortable for an adult, and that bedroom shared a bathroom with the master suite—awkward. Despite all this we had a great time and would definitely use Vacasa again. The location was great.

Great house except for the hot water

We were 12 people in this house. This is a beautiful house, all the rooms and bathrooms are nice, with nice furnishings. Big TVs in every bedroom if that’s important to you. For these multi-floor units, the set up in this 4 story unit was pretty good with the flow from bedrooms on the 2nd and 4th floors and kitchen/living room on the 3rd floor. There were some thoughtful items that we don’t always see in rentals like a first aid kid. They took the note about no welcome book and there is now a binder with some helpful details. The bed arrangement matched the pictures, not what the listing says (i.e. there are two king rooms, one queen room, one room with two twins, and one room with a twin over full bunk and a trundle). Same issue other reviews noted that are still true: there are no large pots/pans/trays. There are no large baking dishes or serving dishes, which is important given this was accommodating a group of 12! The hot water issue remains the same. It is more an issue of inconsistency than just taking a long time to heat up. We were in the 2nd floor master bedroom and there were multiple times the water never got warm even leaving it running for more than ten minutes. Most people had hot water on the third floor shower but it would become cold part way through (think 4-5 min in, not long showers). The water seemed to be warmer when we were using two showers at the same time. It felt like playing musical showers, and I still took cold showers 5/7 times even with leaving the water running to heat up. So it’s not just the 4th floor. The owners should really figure out what this property needs to get reliable hot water whether it’s a tank water heater or a second water heater, I don’t know. Even waiting ten minutes is just so wasteful. There was never hot water to even wash the dishes. All in all, we REALLY like this house, want to come back for every beach trip, but the hot water is a deal breaker for us. It’s a big and wasteful inconvenience.

Regarding the hot water issue, sometimes the heater needs to be reset, and the hot water works again.
