Luminary Lodge: an Appalachian arcade of interactive inventions above the clouds
A one-of-a-kind luxury stay above the clouds in a private Appalachian arcade of interactive inventions. 8 acres of your own tended mountain woodlands to explore. Covered patio for firefly and UFO watching. Bedroom projection wall, Moroccan furniture and chandeliers, exotic museum pieces, Bigfoot-themed contraptions, appointed kitchen, and laundry. This guest suite with private entrance constitutes the entire first floor of the historic cabin. Close enough to Dollywood to hear the train whistle.
Watch clouds catch in treetops from the Luminary Lodge at historic Watson's Stake. Built by a mason as a wine and preserves cellar, Luminary Lodge has been meticulously restored into a luxury retreat. With its extravagant furnishings and exotic ambience, Luminary Lodge has been compared to the VIP Foundation Room at the Chicago House of Blues. Like nothing else in the Smokeys or, frankly, anywhere, guests are immersed in beauty both indoors and out, with priceless expansive mountain views and a private arcade of extraordinarily inventive Appalachian contraptions. By day, the terrain in your private Ulalume Park invites hiking and spotting wildlife (including Bigfoot, the "bogey" referenced in adjacent Boogertown Road). After dark, fireflies twinkle as the sky offers starry nights for meteor and UFO watching.
Recently added to Ulalume Park in Fall 2025 is Tennessee's first and only authentic Shinto Shrine, complete with Torii gate and antique bell, dedicated to a Bigfoot-like mountain spirit who helps carry heavy loads. Launching in 2026 will be the Church of Bigfoot and Hairy Mary shrine, the first of its kind in the world, constructed according to precepts of the Bigfoot Bible.
Luminary Lodge is distinguished by alcoves, recesses, irregularities, odd little nooks and corners to discover.
