The Space:

This sunny Mendocino retreat makes a hiker's or beachgoer's delight! Explore the Russian Gulch State Park with access to park trails directly behind the backyard, including a trail down to the beach. Within easy reach of scenic trails and great beaches, this two-bedroom home offers the perfect escape from the everyday. After a day at the coast, be sure to soak up the local flavor in the historic Mendocino Village under two miles away with shops, galleries, dining, and entertainment galore.



Designed with comfort in mind, the home comes thoughtfully furnished inside and out to welcome gatherings with friends or family. Nestled against majestic redwoods, the spacious, fully enclosed backyard comes complete with private hot tub, gas grill, and outdoor seating for everything from alfresco meals to post-hike soaks. There's even an outdoor hot shower for rinsing off sand after trips to the beach. The spacious kitchen comes well-appointed for home cooking and there's seating for all at the dining table set for six. In the evenings, unwind with your favorite shows and movies on the living room smart TV. A central fireplace adds cozy comfort for chilly weather.

if you plan on cooking i suggest bringing your own pans/knives, but the property and location was excellent.

House was perfect, stocked with all the essentials too. Nice linens and very comfy beds. Trail access right out the back door was a huge plus. Very clean and well maintained home. Would definitely stay again !

Delightful location for us to anchor down with a home base while enjoying and exploring beaches, hiking, and local food at a slower pace. Wonderfully peaceful and comfortable space for sleeping in, relaxing in the hot tub and slowing down for a few days while enjoying the quiet view from the patio when our travel fatigue set in and a refresh was needed. We also enjoyed tracking the resident banana slugs’s movements from the patio and the ease of outdoor showering the sand off with warm water before going in the house after beach exploring days. Easy in and out, great communication from our host, super clean space, well supplied kitchen, grilling and laundry areas, comfy beds, blankets, and seating spaces, Doesn’t get much better. Very grateful for this welcoming space and hope to be back soon.

Loved the stay and especially the easy access to the trails in the state park. Also loved the hot tub and outdoor shower. My son loved the kitchen, the big window and the layout where he could cook and still engage with everyone in the room.

Tucked away in a lovely quiet neighborhood! We loved the easy access to Mendo and Ft Bragg. The hot tub with the amazing redwoods in the background was such a treat. Cozy, clean and enjoyable for a family weekend getaway.

Great location and a very usable house, but it feels like a professionally managed rental rather than a personally hosted one - and arrival details showed it.The setting is the strongest part. Direct trail access from the backyard into Russian Gulch State Park and down toward the beach is a real plus, and the enclosed yard, deck, grill, outdoor shower, and hot tub make it easy to come back from a hike or the coast and actually use the outdoor space. The house itself is comfortable, well laid out for a small group, and had the expected basics: kitchen, washer/dryer, parking, and a livable living/dining area.What kept it from being a 9 or 10 was the lack of personal touch plus a few things that should have been caught before check-in. It was clearly run by a property management company. We asked about a 2–3 p.m. check-in instead of 4 p.m. and they couldn’t accommodate it. When we arrived a cabinet door was off the hinge, the garden hose was unkempt, and a file was lying on the back patio deck. The kitchen had cookware and utensils, yet there was no coffee and no spices - the kind of small stock that makes a stay feel considered instead of transactional. You have to plan on bringing those yourself or making a store run right after check-in.We would stay again for the location and outdoor amenities if the price and dates lined up, but we’d pack coffee, salt, pepper, and a few basics next time and wouldn’t expect flexibility or a last-minute polish on the details. Regarding kitchen supplies, we provide the cookware, utensils, and basic cooking essentials outlined in the listing, but do not currently stock items such as coffee or a full selection of spices. Wonderful house set in a very quiet neighborhood a short drive to Mendocino town and Fort Bragg. We loved the house layout, yard and deck, gas BBQ and of course the hot tub. Main bedroom was a bit musty likely because it’s in the shady side/back of house. The house was very clean and had all of the kitchen tools and other amenities we needed for myself, Husband, and elderly mother. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend it, and we would stay again when we are in the area.

Hiker's Delight Mendocino

Beautiful part of the Earth on the northern California coast near the most quaint village on the ocean. Home was safe, quiet, well equipped, clean and comfortable. We had a terrific early Thanksgiving feast. I would definitely return!

Relaxing in woods and water

We really enjoyed staying here. The woods and being so close to the ocean was exacting what we wanted. It was the perfect distance from Mendicino and Ft Bragg. Although we weren’t able to use the hot tub because of an unforeseen breakdown of it, we appreciated the quick response to the problem. We hope one day we will be able to come back. This place is a delight.🌺

Quiet Retreat

Property is located uphill of Hwy 1, just high enough to clear the ocean fog in Mendocino town. The front deck faces West/Southwest; sunny and bright. Easy few minutes into town, with Mendoza's market happy to provide whatever you might need; including a butcher counter. While we vowed to eat out all of the nights we were there, the property kitchen is the best equipped of any property we've stayed.
