Amazing stay

Beautiful property located on a bluff just over the ocean. Very comfortable, amazing sunsets, and overall very relaxing vacation. Would definitely stay again!

Too short of a stay

This is a lovely cottage with chic decor in an amazing location. The hosts are generous to allow use of the fireplace even though we didn’t use it due to the beautiful Summer weather. We did read plenty of books from the library and used the hot tub to watch the sunsets which I highly recommend. Our stay was heavenly.

Amazing house, amazing view

The house had every amenity you could need. The bathroom floor was heated, nice touch. Cannot beat the view from the back deck and brand new hot tub! Beds were comfortable. Did not want to leave.

Beautiful and Private

This house was absolutely gorgeous in a very private oceanfront setting. It is beautifully furnished with comfortable beds, furniture and plenty of towels. The kitchen, though small, has just about every toy you could want. Overall, it's a beautiful house in a spectacular setting. There are a few drawbacks, however. The refrigerator is a half-sized one, which made it challenging for us to get all our groceries into it. The thermostat is, in the owner's words, "finicky" and there were no instructions on how to use it.The temperature outside was in the 50's and low 60's most of the tine we were there and it was hard to get the house to a comfortable temperature. (When questioned, the owner did send a link to the company's website where I spent an hour unsuccessfully trying to figure out how to set the thermostat but really, I don't want to spend my vacation doing that! ) Just some basic instructions would really help. The hot tub took a day and a half to get to the low 90;s, not the "20 minutes" the owner indicated in his instructions. If we had known it would take so long, we would have turned it on when we arrived. Finally, something was beeping loudly at 2 am one morning and it took an hour and a half to figure out where it was, disconnect it (a CO2 deterctor) and move it into the garage, where it continued to beep all weekend.

Pristine & Walking Distance to Wilderness

A lovely place in a perfect setting. We loved being able to walk over to Russian Gulch, drive minutes to Jug Handle, and pop into Mendocino. And then return to blissful coastal solitude.

Renew and recharge

A cozy home with everything needed to relax, cook, rest, and recharge in one of the most beautiful settings in the world! It’s walking distance to two state parks, you can get to cute Mendocino in minutes, the gray whale migration was entrancing to watch, and we had no trouble having two professionals working virtually.

Whales!

Jonathan’s home was very well appointed, cozy, comfortable and the location? Well, whales. And seals. We spent a lot of time in the backyard with binoculars. Location location location. This home was a true treat in a time of stress.

Just what we needed

Wonderful escape to the coast where we relaxed and enjoyed this wonderful home. The location was perfect. The shower had the best water pressure too! Comfortable bed with great pillows and the heated bathroom floor spoiled us. We never understood the heated floor but now we will need to have one in our next home. Thanks for sharing your comfy retreat😊

Comfortable Stay

House is very comfortable and well furnished. Had everything we needed. Comfortable master bed. Very nice neighborhood, and well located between Fort Bragg and Mendocino. A couple pointers that were mentioned in other reviews. 1) Hot tub takes a full day to warm up, so turn it on upon arrival if you intend to use it. 2) Thermostat can be temperamental. Overall worked fine, but one morning the heater would not turn on even though I dial up the heat. So had to bundle up for a few hours waiting for the sun to warm the house.

Stunning Views and Beautiful Property

The house was beautiful, immaculate and had everything we needed. We love to cook, so it was wonderful to have every utensil we wanted in the kitchen. The owners were very responsive for any questions we had. The house and views were even more beautiful than the pictures could depict!

peaceful retreat

Loved our stay here, perfect for a couple wanting a get-away. Super-comfy bed, very well-equipped kitchen, comfortable seating area. Great location that feels like a remote get-away but is just a short (couple of minutes) drive from the town of Mendocino and in walking distance of Russian Gulch State Park. Loved the hot tub overlooking the ocean!

Great location, not great home.

We had such high hopes for this home, and I regret having to post a somewhat negative review because it’s not what I normally do. This home is in a great location, but the home itself is lacking in many areas. It has a very small, non-frost-free refrigerator with a freezer that had a build-up of frost that made it even smaller; you couldn’t even put a small tub of ice cream in it. It’s supposed to be no pets, but there is evidence of dog stains in the carpet and there is a dog kennel in the garage. On days when the sun streamed in and the home became warm, it smelled doggy. The directions told us to keep the heat down, but it kept going off with no way to control the thermostat, which is controlled by a smartphone I guess; there were no instructions on how to adjust it or just turn it off. The kitchen faucet doesn’t work properly; the nozzle just kept falling out. You need a step stool to reach the microwave in the cabinet above the refrigerator. There is evidence of an animal living under the home; there is a burrowed hole going under it. And, to us, the worst of all was finding that the owners have installed an INTERIOR camera to potentially monitor us. I have no idea why they need an INTERIOR camera, but it was very creepy. We turned it to the wall, but an interior camera in an occupied rental is simply wrong.

Cozy with an Awesome View

Our recent stay was wonderful. This is a nice cozy house with beautiful views! We were able to get daily front row seats to watch the whales! The only thing that this beauty could have had to make it better was another refridgerator (maybe in the garage?) for extra storage. Not much fridge space in the house.

Tranquil, relaxing beauty by the ocean

This property is an amazing ocean front property! It was a nice sized space for our family of four. The kitchen was fully stocked with gas stove and any spice, dish, pan, or cooking utensil you might need. The view while cooking is amazing and you need only open the window to hear and smell the ocean to add to the view. The floor in the bathroom is heated! Love that! The lighthouse is only 1 mile drive away in one direction and Russian Gulch park is 1/4 mile in the other. Mendocino is about a 5 min drive away. Owners are very responsive! Property is next to other properties but fairly private and quiet. There are a few pictures of the owners, a bookshelf full of books, games, and a set of binoculars that truly make you feel like a welcome guest. The beds were very comfortable and so was the couch. The photos of the view don't do it justice. I could see this would be an amazing property for whale watching! We did see some seals bathing on the rocks below. Pros: Ocean Front and quiet Close to town Comfortable beds and sheets Comfortable couch ( looks way nicer in person than photos show, it seems fairly new) Nice view Responsive owner Well stocked Cons: Curb appeal (garage door was first thing we saw and firewood stacked by front door with tarp over it) Deck lighting was not working Small freezer One bathroom dog bed with dog toys in family room personal photos on the wall and fridge The blinding sun shines in from the ocean side windows in the afternoon for 2-3 hours, even with the blinds down.
