• American Village borders Duke Forest on its western and southern sides. Residents have almost immediate access to forested walking/hiking trails, wildlife views, and wooded surroundings. 
• There’s a small neighborhood green space, American Village Park — a 4-acre park with a walking path, playground and picnic spots — good for strolls, playdates, or relaxing outdoors. 
2. Proximity to key places: Duke, Downtown Durham, Research Triangle Park (RTP)
• It’s just a few miles to Duke University (and its hospital), which is convenient for students, staff, or faculty. 
• Downtown Durham is only ~4–5 miles away — a short commute for work or evening outings. 
• The area offers relatively easy access to major roads/freeways, making commuting to Research Triangle Park or nearby cities manageable.
