From a very young age, I have always had a great love for mountain activities. From fishing in the streams and lakes, water skiing in the chilled lakes of the sierra in the summer months, to downhill skiing during the winter months. For several years we rented cabins for our young family in the South Lake Tahoe and Truckee area. When it came time to consider a location to build a cabin of our own, we had looked at many areas around the Lake Tahoe region before settling on Tahoe Donner Resort. One of the reasons why we made our decision is the convenience of being located off of Interstate 80, the major artery to the east, maintained 365 days a year by an army of snow removal equipment. Another enticing factor is the lack of congestion due to the fact that casinos and big city night life are not located around the corner, but still located within a 45 minute drive to the 'Biggest Little City in the Word' Reno, NV. And the man said 'location, location, location!' Tahoe Donner is the hub of winter activities with plenty of winter ski resorts in close proximity all ranging approximately 15 miles away (24 minutes): Northstar (south on Hwy 267) , Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley (south on Hwy 89), or Sugar Bowl (west on I-80). Tahoe Donner also includes many adventurous summer activities such as fishing, golf (minutes away), biking, hiking, floating, etc.
We built the first cabin, a 3 bed, 2 bath A-frame on Tahoe Donner's 15th fairway in 1980 during TD's early development. Enjoying many years of winter and summertime weekends and vacations. We packed that cabin full of friends and kids till it was ready to burst. So in 2001, we began looking around TD for a larger house and found this big house on Swiss Ln on the 13th green. We fell in love with it at first site and soon it became home away from home.
