We have just turned from a magical stay at Casa Griffin! We have been staying in rental homes for our last five vacations, and this, by far, was the best ever. Andrew and Moira, our hosts, were beyond incredible. Moira handles the communications, and she was extremely responsive. By the time we finished the necessary e-mail correspondence, I felt we were great friends, and had known each other for years. Every detail was well organized and executed, even to the level of the provision of overnight, stamped mailers for the signed contract, and return of the very helpful information packet and keys. Moira makes her guests feel as though her home is their own, encouraging checking cabinets for things you might need!
Our stay spanned the winter holidays, and provided a wonderful weather break from the frigid northeast. We arrived late on Christmas Eve, and as we approached the spectacular hilltop location, with stunning views of the blinking lights of Albuquerque below, we watched as 4 does and a large buck crossed the road in front of us. A magical welcome! Upon entering the home, we were greeted with some lovely edible treats, which we really appreciated as all the stores were closed. This might have been a Christmas treat, not offered at other times of the year, but it was wonderful.
We were traveling with our four adult kids, and our daughter-in-law, and the accommodations were perfect! All beds were very comfortable, and the two queen bedrooms and two twin bedrooms worked perfectly for our group of 7. The house is equipped with absolutely everything we needed, the kitchen is spectacular, and living spaces ample and comfortable. The views from the house are unparalleled in Albuquerque, and sunrises and sunsets quite memorable. Sipping strong coffee and watching the sunrise, and sipping good wine for the sunsets, what more could one ask for in a vacation home.
In between, we visited many unforgettable hiking areas and "attractions"......Ghost Ranch, where Georgia O'Keefe lived, Sky City, the oldest inhabited Native American pueblo, Tent Rocks, Santa Fe, the Georgia O'Keefe Museum, Malpais National monument, as well as spectacular hikes in the Cibloa National Forest, just minutes away from our "home." We stayed so busy. In what little down time we had, we took walks around the mountainside neighborhood, played board games, and enjoyed amazing 55 degree days. All of us would say that we would love to return. Many thanks to our gracious hosts!
