The Space:

Get a taste of the peaceful lifestyle of Cullowhee and surround yourself with lush greenery and fresh air here at Pointer's Point. Everything from the expansive deck complete with a gas grill to the firepit that will be just the place to gather under the stars, this retreat offers plenty of opportunities to get your fill of the great outdoors. Not to mention, the Caney Fork River running through the property will provide that tranquil sound of trickling water in the background. The kitchen will also be calling your name when everyone works up an appetite, as it is fully equipped with everything needed to whip up tasty meals. Don't hesitate to bring the pups along too, as this home is dog-friendly! This retreat also boasts 100 yards of river frontage on the Caney Fork for wild trout and a great location just a short drive or walk to the Nantahala National Forest to hit hiking trails; you can also hike to Rough Butt Creek Falls from the house! This home is also on great mountain biking trails and within walking distance to numerous streams on the Western North Carolina fly fishing trail. Things to Know Dog-friendly ( Two dogs max. Two XL crates are provided. Dogs must be crated if in the house alone.) This property is managed by VueStay Vacations.

We stayed a few nights on a family trip (3 kids) and everyone had a great time. The home was clean and comfortable with great proximity to a beautiful creek. Our boys caught multiple rainbow trout and some river chubs.

Overall, the house was clean and very nice. However, the Master Bathroom shower had mold on the ceiling. The toilets easily clogged and would frequently release noisy gas bubbles. However, the kitchen was large and included a good selection of cooking utensils and dishes. I would recommend a knife sharpener. I enjoyed using the gas Weber grill but the owner refused to allow us to use the gas fireplace because it was the summer. The beds were comfy and the dog crates were a nice touch. The surprise was how long it takes to drive to Sylva (30 minutes).

Peaceful, beautiful, and very comfortable!

We loved this pet friendly property! The sounds of the water and the porches surrounded by natural beauty created such a delightful experience for us. The kitchen is so nice and made cooking during our stay a joy!

Great cabin a short hike from water fall.

The cabin has a great open family room / kitchen. The highlight was the hike from the front door to Sugar Creek falls. Well worth the trip to see a beautiful waterfall in a secluded setting.

great comfortable place in the mountains

Enjoyed our 3 night stay here. My 2 grandsons enjoyed the creek and played in it daily! Close to WCU where my grand daughter took us on a college tour for possibly attending after she graduates high school. Also did a kayaking trip down the Big Tuck and a horseback ride. Enjoyed the 3 bedrooms and huge kitchen.

Cullowhee cabin

This home was perfect for my family of 3 plus 1 labrador. We enjoyed the stream sounds through the front yard and the remoteness of the property. That said, the location is quite far from the local sights and scenes so plan to get your snacks/food stocked up as needed.

Much needed quietness

Very lovely place enjoyed so much. My 5yr old grandson enjoyed the little river. Had everything we needed. Only thing we seen that needs to be seen to is the wheelchair ramp is slippery when wet. Our mother couldn't use it.

Bed Bugs

There were not enough sheets for the beds, there was dog hair and mud on the sheets, and our first night we found bed bugs. Otherwise, the house was clean enough and has a nice porch.

Our local team took immediate action by reporting your concern to the local manager, who shut the house down and arranged for a professional pest control inspection. Although no signs of infestation were found, the home was thoroughly treated as a precaution. It’s possible this was an isolated incident with a single bug carried in during travel. We understand how unsettling this was and have issued a full refund. We value your input and hope to have the chance to provide you with a much-improved experience in the future.

Great vacation

We had a wonderful stay. The property is very nice and true to the posting. Amenities made you feel like you’re at home. The neighborhood dogs were a surprise. We had one friendly dog that stayed at the house the entire weekend. Luckily he was extremely sweet and good with my dogs. The drive into town is long but is not difficult at all. We hated to leave and will definitely be coming back.

Way out there

I would give a 4.5 but not possible. My only complaint has absolutely nothing to do with home - but its distance from everything. Home was delightful and a good choice if you just want peace and quiet. We were checking out the area, and the distance from everything made for a lot of extra travel

Great family vacation!

My family and I stayed in this home for a little over a week, and we will definitely be returning! It was so peaceful, with lots of shade and the sound of the creek flowing. The firepit was great; the neighbors were friendly, and there were several amazing hikes within a mile of the house. The house is nice inside, with an updated kitchen and great water pressure in the bathrooms. Be warned that it is very rural, so expect to drive about 30-40 minutes to get groceries. The internet is very spotty, so if you need to work online this is not the place for you. We brought our poodles, and they had a blast playing with the neighbor's dog. The creek was amazing, but there isn't a safe spot to get down for kids. My husband had a great time playing with rocks, though! Overall, this was a very peaceful vacation.

Disappointing

I was asked to rate the house from Vacasa from a one to a five. It is a two. Refrigerator was filthy as it has hair and food residue inside. Coffee pots were filthy as they had mold, and had to be scrubbed and cleaned. Hair in guest bathroom sink, and mold in guest bathroom shower. Inside oven was coated in grease and food. The guest bedroom sheets were not laundered, and we had to wash them. Very disappointed with the lack of cleanliness. No tv remote to turn on tv either…. No place to put garbage as cans were full and not emptied. Called Vacasa several times and management never responded.

Great place!

Great place perfect for our family and golden retriever. It’s off the beaten path (closest grocery store is 25-30 minutes) but tranquil and fully stocked with everything! Plenty of towels, bedding, and soap! Also things like coffee filters etc were all on hand. Huge plus for any vacation rental…we’ve stayed in several and those little things go along way! Neighbors super friendly and our dog enjoyed the creek!

Great Cabin with Beautiful Creek

We really enjoyed our stay here! The home was just as listed and very well equipped with anything you could need! The only cons were it is a little further out than we expected but that wasn’t too bad. The internet was tricky at times but ended up being fine. Not a con but so the property managers know there is a mole problem in the yard that probably needs to be addressed. Thank you!
