I chose Pejeng Kawan because it's one of the most peaceful and upscale corners of the Ubud area — a calm, authentic Balinese setting full of quality villas, popular with international travelers and a friendly expat community, yet just a short drive from the vibrant center of Ubud. For me it's the perfect balance: you can escape the hustle of town and relax among lush greenery and quiet local life, then dive into everything Ubud is famous for whenever you like.
What I enjoy most is how genuinely local it still feels. Away from the crowded tourist zones, you find the warm hospitality Bali is known for, with little warungs, cafés, and scenic back-roads to discover. And it's wonderfully placed — central Ubud, the Sacred Monkey Forest, and Ubud Palace are around 15 minutes by car (quicker by scooter), with the Tegalalang rice terraces, temples, and waterfalls all close by. Whether you want to explore Ubud's art markets and restaurants or simply unwind by the pool surrounded by nature, it's the kind of serene base that lets you truly slow down — exactly what Ubud is meant to be.
