Welcome to The Delamar — Where Beaufort`s History Lives, and Downtown Is Right Outside the Door. The Delamar Gibble House was built in 1866 — a registered historic home on Turner Street, one block from the center of downtown Beaufort and two blocks from the Front Street waterfront, where the wild horse ferry departs and the restaurants spill onto the sidewalk on warm evenings. The house has been lovingly reimagined with vibrant luxury decor, updated finishes, and a Hallman chef`s kitchen that would be remarkable in a restaurant — but the bones, the proportions, the front porch with its two swings, and the sense that this house has stories worth knowing are entirely original. The art throughout was chosen to complement the history of the structure and the maritime character of Beaufort itself. Four bedrooms. Four private en-suite bathrooms. A dining room with wallpaper that earns its own reaction. Twin firepits in the fenced side yard. And a location that puts the best of one of the South`s most beautiful coastal towns within a two-block walk — no car, no golf cart, no planning required. This is the house for the group that wants Beaufort done properly.
🏛️ The History — Built 1866 The Delamar Gibble House has stood on Turner Street for over 150 years — a registered historic home in the heart of Beaufort`s historic district. Thoughtfully updated throughout — modern kitchen, fresh bathrooms, contemporary decor — while the proportions, the front porch, and the sense of permanence that only a building of this age carries remain entirely original. Staying at The Delamar is not renting a house near downtown Beaufort. It is staying in a piece of it.
🍳 The Hallman Kitchen — A True Chef`s Space The centerpiece of the kitchen is a Hallman luxury range — five gas burners, a center griddle plate, dual ovens, and heat lamps to keep dishes warm while the rest of the meal finishes. Every appliance, utensil, and essential is stocked before you arrive. This is the kitchen for guests who actually cook — source fresh seafood from Morehead City`s waterfront in the morning and prepare it properly that evening. The kitchen is compact — the honest trade-off of a historic home — but everything needed for a full meal is present. Note: the range is gas. Please review the operating instructions in the welcome guide before first use. The team is available immediately for any questions.
🍽️ The Dining Room Vibrant statement wallpaper, a table that seats eight, and the feel of an upscale Southern restaurant rather than a rental dining room. At The Delamar, dinner is the event the evening is organized around.
🪑 The Front Porch + Outdoor Spaces Two porch swings face Turner Street — the quintessential Beaufort morning happens here, coffee in hand, as the historic district wakes up around you. The fenced side yard holds twin firepits with outdoor seating — the evening gathering space for bachelorette groups, reunions, and conversations that linger. The private backyard has a grill, outdoor seating, and a hangout area. Note: the backyard is private but not fully fenced — worth knowing for guests with dogs or young children needing fully enclosed space.
🛌 Four Bedrooms — Every Guest With a Private Bathroom Four bedrooms, four private en-suite bathrooms — no sharing, no scheduling, no waiting. Each bedroom is labeled by number, outfitted with all-cotton linens, remote-controlled ceiling fans, full bathroom essentials, and generous clothes storage.
Bedroom 1 (Upstairs): Queen bed, en-suite shower Bedroom 2 (Upstairs): King bed, en-suite shower, dedicated workspace Bedroom 3 (Upstairs): Queen bed, en-suite shower Bedroom 4 (First Floor): King bed, en-suite shower, Smart TV — the ground-floor suite for guests who prefer to skip the stairs
All en-suite bathrooms have showers only — no bathtubs at this property.
📚 The Living Spaces
A first-floor conversation living room connected to the dining room and kitchen. A tucked-away reading nook that the reader in every group quietly claims by day two. And a second living room upstairs with one of the house`s two Smart TVs — the group movie night and rainy afternoon space. (The second TV is in Bedroom 4.)
📍 The Location — One Block From Everything Turner Street sits at the heart of the Beaufort historic district. One block from downtown`s center. Two blocks from Front Street and the waterfront — the wild horse ferry to Shackleford Banks, the NC Maritime Museum, waterfront dining, and boutique shops all within an easy walk from the front porch.
A note on the neighborhood: The Delamar`s prime downtown location means Turner Street sees foot traffic throughout the day and into the evening — visitors and locals moving between downtown and the waterfront. Guests who love being in the middle of a living historic downtown will feel exactly at home. Guests needing complete nighttime quiet in the surrounding streets should factor this in.
Morehead City`s waterfront is 10 minutes by car. Atlantic Beach is 15 minutes. The NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is 20 minutes. Fort Macon State Park is 25 minutes. But the main event is downtown Beaufort — and it is right outside the door.
GUEST ACCESS The entire Delamar Gibble House is yours — all four bedrooms, all four en-suite bathrooms, conversation living room, reading nook, dining room, Hallman chef`s kitchen, upstairs living room, front porch with swings, fenced side yard with twin firepits, and private backyard with grill.
GETTING AROUND The Delamar sits on Turner Street in downtown Beaufort — the waterfront, ferry, museum, dining, and shops are all walkable. A car is useful for day trips but entirely optional for the downtown Beaufort experience this house is built around.
