The Kühlungsborn West station grounds house the car depots and the locomotive shed for the vehicles used in rail operations.
This is where the daily maintenance and upkeep of the steam locomotives in service take place, as well as their cleaning after the last scheduled arrival (until approximately 2:00 a.m. after the end of operations). Work to prepare the first scheduled train also takes place here, beginning as early as 2 hours before the first scheduled departure.
