This thoughtfully designed guest house is a comfortable home base for business travelers, visiting professionals, and extended stays.
The living area feels open and bright, with dramatic 17+ foot ceilings, abundant natural light, and upper windows with peaceful treetop views. Separate areas for working, relaxing, cooking, and sleeping make longer stays feel much more comfortable than a typical hotel room.
For work, there is a dedicated workspace setup with a Herman Miller Aeron chair, electric sit/stand desk, external monitor, keyboard, mouse, and ultra-fast Sonic 10 Gbps fiber internet. It is well suited for video calls, focused work, large file transfers, streaming, and longer remote-work stays.
The bedroom features a king-size bed with a premium hybrid mattress, organic cotton percale linens, blackout curtains, bedside charging, and a customized full-size wardrobe with generous storage.
The home is especially comfortable for up to 2 guests, while flexible sleeping arrangements can accommodate small families or groups when needed. In addition to the king bed, extra floor mattresses and sofa space are available for additional guests.

The home is close to the Caltrain tracks, which makes Peninsula transit especially convenient. Caltrain now runs quieter, cleaner electric trains along this corridor. While an occasional passing train may be heard, many of our previous guests have commented on how quiet and peaceful the home feels, with several saying they hardly noticed the trains at all.
Accessibility note:
The bathroom has a tub/shower combination with a higher step-over threshold. Guests with mobility, balance, or knee concerns may prefer a walk-in shower setup and should keep this in mind when booking.

We sit on the line between Redwood City and San Carlos, with both down-towns about a mile away in opposite directions. Redwood City is the livelier one. Courthouse Square hosts free concerts, outdoor film nights, a farmers market, and festivals through the year, and the Fox Theatre, restored from 1929, is a block away. Dinner nearby can be Lebanese, Peruvian, Japanese, Indian, German, or Mexican. San Carlos is the quieter pleasure, a few walkable blocks of independent restaurants, bakeries, and wine bars on Laurel Street.
Our own block is residential and tree lined. Neighbors walk dogs at dusk. Children ride bicycles in the neighborhood, and the late sun swings northwest over the garden, which is when the courtyard is at its best. A high school sits nearby and a train passes now and then, but the streets are wide and the setting stays peaceful.
The rest of the Bay Area opens up from here. San Francisco is about forty minutes north, Stanford eight miles south, the Pacific half an hour west over the hills. Cal-train is walkable and runs the length of the Peninsula, connecting to BART. SFO is twenty minutes away, San Jose thirty.
The water is closer than visitors expect. The shoreline here is tidal marsh and old salt ponds that change color with the season. Bair Island and the Don Edwards refuge have quiet trails and remarkable birdlife in winter. You can kayak, sail, or fish from the harbor.
The weather helps. Redwood City has claimed the best climate in the country, and the arch on Broadway still says so. Two hundred and fifty five sunny days a year, without San Francisco's summer fog.

The bathroom was finished the way you would finish your own. Porcelain in marble and wave textures, a glass mosaic band that catches the light, a wall hung basin, and a deep tub behind frameless glass. A long soak here is the sort of thing you plan the evening around.
