We apologize for any musty odor but our water heater gave out the week before you arrived and we are still drying out our basement. We appreciate your review and look forward to having you vacation with us again.

I am sorry that our cottage did not meet your needs. We fill up every season and have primarily returning families without any complaints about the cottage or the community. I cannot control the behavior of my neighbors, however, I can say that we have never had any complaints about them before. In addition, when you stated that you would be bringing your wave runner, I offered a PWC tie up behind my own house which you did not use. As far as the cleanliness of our cottage, we are booked solid every summer and it has never been an issue. I have spoken to our cleaning service to ensure that they continue to be thorough and have refunded your cleaning fee. I will admit that the size of the bathroom is not what you would find in a chain hotel, but this is a summer cottage and provides a woodsy charm and a full kitchen for a price and in a location that you will not find at a hotel. Finally, I provide every one of our guests my personal cell phone number. If you had any issues during your stay, all you needed to do was let me know. I would have immediately sent over my cleaning service or even come to clean it myself. I also would have once again offered the area behind my house and our PWC tie up for your wave runner. My guests contact me all the time for recommendations, information about area attractions, or even directions. I always answer my phone and take pride in providing the best stay possible to our guests. I cannot correct an issue if I am not make aware of it.

We appreciate the feedback. We always do our best to provide our guests with a relaxing vacation. I am sorry to hear that you felt the cottage smelled musty. The cottage is in the woods and when it rains the entire area can take on the smell of wet leaves and sand. We do run a dehumidifier in the basement and provide a whole house hepa fan. As we have a son with asthma, we have the air quality tested and have been told that there is no mold present. The only thing found in the cottage air was outdoor tree and plant pollen. We have never been told that the smell lingers in clothing, however I’m very sorry if it bothered you. I am also sorry if there were stains on the carpet. We had the whole house shampooed prior to opening this season and those spots were not present then. We will see if they can be cleaned between guests and if not, we will have the carpet cleaned again at the end of the season. I know that at one point this summer, we had a guest with a destructive dog. We did our best to remediate that damage, but we will look again at the carpet. Feedback is always appreciated and we always want to improve any area that needs attention. We will address the blinds and have the carpet cleaned again. We are a small, two-cottage, family run summer vacation rental and I’m afraid that new flooring isn’t in the budget right now, but I assure you the carpets are professionally cleaned at least twice a season. Making sure that our guests enjoy their stay is very important to us and we are proud to say that 90% of our guests are families who return year after year. I am very sorry if you were anything less than fully satisfied with your stay.
