Perfect home away from home

The cottage was absolutely perfect for our visit back home to visit my family! The cottage was very well kept and clean. The area was very quiet, and very relaxing. The view was amazing!

I recently stayed at this lovely vacation rental on Lake Ontario, and it was everything I hoped for and more. Excellent!

The property smelled clean and fresh upon entering it. It easily stood up to that first impression. The natural lighting was outstanding, the beds comfortable, and the location was perfect. The owner was very responsive and thought of everything we would need. If we return to the Lake Ontario area, we will definitely schedule our vacation around the availability of this property.

Wonderful home

This house was the perfect spot for a 5 day fishing trip. The house was as described, clean, had everything we needed. The location was perfect for all of the different fishing spots we wanted to hit. The owner’s communication was great from booking to the stay. Very happy with our stay!

Overall the property was as described. We had a good stay. Jess left a wonderful welcome basket full of goodies. Very thoughtful ! The views of the lake were good. Only negative was the amount of spiders and cobwebs on the outside of the house. We understand why as the owners are using a more natural pest control. But there was a lot of cobwebs when we first got there to enter the house. We used a broom inside the house to sweep away most of the cobwebs. Other than that, it is a nice place. Loved the sunsets !! Im pretty sure we brough the heat and humidity from our house in southwest Virginia with us to New York. We were hoping it would be cooler there. Roger C.

Beautiful lakeside cottage

The cottage was a perfect home base for our family. The space was a great size and incredibly peaceful. We were incredibly surprised when we arrived and there was a welcome basket waiting for us. Beautiful Scenic Spot

We had a great stay in this very cute lakeside spot. While it was a chilly week the lovely views and sounds of the waves were still so enjoyable. The master bedroom looks right over the lake which is so nice. Very user friendly kitchen with open living space. Quick replies from Jess when any questions arose. I'll likely be back in town and won't hesitate to book again.

Excellent for a 2nd time

This was our second time staying at this property and it was just as clean and nice as the first time . Jess is a great host and easy to deal with and she takes the time to leave some local food items from the area for you to sample if you like. I.e. Local apples , pickled green beans , S'mores and many other items. Thanks again to Jess for hosting us and we will be back next time traveling to the area . Scott-

Our Solar Eclipse Getaway

We chose this property for its location in the 2024 solar eclipse's "totality zone". We figured if the sun wasn't visible due to weather, we'd still enjoy the beauty of the location. The house is super comfortable, clean and well-appointed, and the lake views are amazing. Jess was very easy to communicate with. We appreciated all the thoughtfulness the hosts put into welcoming us, right down to including a souvenir solar eclipse glass in the box of goodies they left! P.S. Though the clouds blocked out the sun, we did experience the blackout that came over the lake for about 3 mins at 3:20pm. It was awesome.

Halfway satisfied

My expectations for my stay here were were high based on the photos, descriptions and price. This house has the potential to be an absolutely amazing getaway. First the exterior needs a good pressure washing. There’s cobwebs all over the exterior of the home, decks and door entry ways filled with bugs. It seemed like no one has been there in a while. On the right side of the home the foundation blocks are smashed out allowing any curious kids to crawl under the home . The view out back where the fire pit was amazing but the backyard needs some fill/drainage. After a day of rain the backyard turned into a swamp and the water sat with bugs swarming us as we tried to have a fire. I also was disappointed there was no easy access shoreline/beach area at the house. Based on the photos posted on the listing and speaking to the property owner it seemed like there was. The photos posted are from a public shoreline up the road from the house . It was a short walk so it wasn’t a big deal but again my expectations were let down a little . The inside of the home has been remodeled and is very nice but again it needs to be maintained . Lightbulbs not working, doorhandles falling off due to setscrew not being tightened , and we had issues with the downstairs toilet not flushing. The upstairs was set up to our liking , especially with having a young child. The biggest nail biter was not having access to the garage as it was advertised. It was full of junk with barely any room to walk in.

Bugs,mold and spider webs

We rented this property due to a family gathering close by . To start with other properties we have rented have a "Welcome " information packet , this home did not.. Owner asked us to contact them upon arrival so they could turn on air conditioning. This was quite difficult since we did not have the wifi password. When we rented pictures showed a master bedroom with a king bed. And a second bedroom with a queen/double bed and a set of bunkers. House description still listed as such .Perfect for our families. My husband and myself. Brother and sister in law and 2 children. When we arrived the master had a king bed and a bed in a closet for a child! Seems rather strange, 6 x 2 ft and still had the doors on. The second room the queen/double bed was gone and the bunks were separated. So to accommodate the changes ,that we were never notified about , my husband and I slept in the twin beds. Senior citizens climbing over the railings that were left on the beds. The king bed was very crowded with 3 people. And one child was willing to sleep in the closet bed. When we addressed dirty duvet cover with the owner . The response was , they were changed a month ago and there were clean ones in the closet . Seriously 1 month ago ! When stripping beds when we left there were stains on the mattress covers and sheets. The outside areas were filthy with bug's, mold and spider webs. I understand the bug's having had lake houses but this wasn't just from a few weeks. It was all there for years. There were trees growing out of the cutters. The enclosed porch looked nice but with all the bug's no one was comfortable to even walk out there. Need a good power wash and vacuuming. Luckily we had extra insulated cups with us since there were only 2 coffee mugs. Listed was grill but without propane it's is rather useless. I don't understand the previous reviews from recent quest. I would have never rented if I had known what we experienced. Maybe VRBO should send "secret " renters to check properties. I feel we were taken advantage of with the changes done after renting without being notified and the condition of outside areas. A partial refund would be appreciated. We have photos if you would like us to send them. Thank you for listening. Hopefully our unpleasant experience will help someone before they decide to rent.

Thank you for giving us one star as this shows your irrational response and unfair comments. I appreciate feedback but you never told us about any issues until day before you left... and you requested a refund with each message. You didn't allow us to help with any issues, instead immediately asked for a refund. For future renters I will reply to your comments. 1. 3 days prior renters get a welcome email. It was sent to Greg's account but you communicated using 2 different accounts. 2. The description was clear on beds and how many in each bedroom. The small closet bed is camper size as described in listing. Fun fact for future renters... This closet bedroom is a play off of the room of requirement in Harry Potter, our girls LOVE Harry Potter. 3. The sheets are washed every visit as prior 5 star guests have stated. We buy a new mattress cover and sheets annually and if stained, we also have aback up sets in closet. This is in the welcome email. 4. We have to sweep each morning and power wash the house 2x a year. 5. We did not know about coffee mugs, we could have discussed options if knew ahead of time. We have 2 propane tanks on the side of the house. Again if you had contacted me ahead of time I could have helped with any confusion. Also we allowed you to park boat across street, allowed you to check in early, and answered all your questions ahead of time. I also told you the bathroom windows had just been replaced the day before you arrived and the walls needed touch up work. We had very clear and open communication until you checked in. Last thing I'll say, the 2 renters after you gave us 5 stars. Their stay began the day after you departed.

The place felt like a home away from home . Was very welcoming and right on the lake . Was in a good neighborhood. The only thing I didn’t like was it’s a ways away from good restaurants and bars . But I guess that’s expected in that area there’s not much out there but a lot of farmers

Great house on the lake!

Staying here was a great experience! It is a lovely home right on the lake. Being able to sit on the porch and watch the sunset every evening added so much to our trip to see family in the Rochester area. The house itself is clean and comfortable- very quiet. Communication with Jess, the owner was always prompt and pleasant. Definitely recommend this rental property.

We are very excited to offer our beautiful vacation home to guests. I am from Reno, Nevada my wife Jenn is from Buffalo. We are both military veterans and bought this house as a place for family, friends and guests to enjoy and appreciate the great area we live in. We currently live in Buffalo and love the area, especially the outdoors. We have three small children and want them to enjoy this home for many years to come.

We fell in love with this home at first sight. I was in Germany and my wife was deployed and we wanted a place where our family and friends could gather and build memories. Now that we live in the area we enjoy the home enjoy the home as much as we can and thought it would be great to find great guests that could enjoy it and all it has to offer as much as we do. The lake is beautiful during all year but especially during the spring, summer and fall. It offers picturesque living, great activies and beautiful sights.

With a home this beautiful if is difficult to find what you love the most. For everyting the outside has to offer, we also love the interior. This open concept home has beautiful details, we have spent the last 2 years adding our favorite pieces of art from our travels around the world and making it and inviting warm home. The soothing waves will put you at ease and can be heard throughout the home. Its easy to get to has mature trees and a fence protecting the property from the noise of the world around you. We fell in love and hope you will too. We would love for you to be our guest.
