We were a large party of 8, a mix of teenagers and middle age adults (lol I’m describing myself!). So you can imagine we had different needs and this place covered all the bases for us.
Felipe was super organized and friendly from the start. He met us at a close location, and then we followed him to the house. It had everything we imagined and was the perfect place for all our needs.
The kids loved the clean pool (we watched them clean it on Wednesday - refilling it with new water ...and it wasn’t even dirty!) and the super easy access to the beach. The adults enjoyed access to the shaded BBQ area with bar style chairs ...given the scorching heat this year, it was nice to be in the shade and yet still outside with seatings.
Super easy access to grocery store nearby (with hungry teenagers we would have been broke if not for the kitchen with all the right tools to cook many of the meals).
Would suggest you rent a car ...can’t imagine getting around without one. Groceries would be approx 15-20 walk, and in the heat its a bit of a challenge. If walking, Best to do any errands before 7 am otherwise you’ll be nice and melted.
We’re right off the highway, so it’s easy to drive to Jaco, only 18 min drive and super easy to Manuel Antonio Park (only 50 min). Would suggest you book online for a tour guide for the Park if you want to see Sloths or Monkeys...it would have been impossible to find them in that jungle without the help of a guide.
If you didn’t want to cook, you won’t be lacking in finding restaurants around you ...but keep in mind the Rancho Hotel is the only decent one for breakfast in walking distance. Many of the restaurants are open at 12 pm, unless they’re specifically advertise for breakfast. We showed up to restaurant one day thinking it was open for lunch at 11 :30 am, but they were very strict on opening at noon.
The main laundry machine had broken down but we were supplied with laundry service... At some point I think I forgot how clean towels looked like and requested them washed ...and found them washed/ dried/ folded by the lovely caretaker lady that lived behind the property.
Place feels very secure with caretakers living at the back, padlock gate and multiple doors with locks, plus a ADT security system. Still, you’re in Costa Rica so always keep your passports with you.
I would definitely rebook this place for my next trip.
