A wonderful stay!

Thanks to Nate for hosting our family's wonderful stay this past weekend on Long Island. We had a wonderful time - great location, enjoyed the space indoors and outdoors, the kayaking and the natural setting! Would love to stay again!

Bellport home by the bay

We stayed at Cabin 5 with a small group of family and teens who were in town for a sailing competition. The house was just what we needed and had more space than we expected or needed. The host was very helpful and communicative. A wonderful stay!

Beautiful secluded property, love all the wildlife. Home was well equipped and classically beautiful. We had a wonderful visit. Nathaniel was very friendly, helpful, and responsive, a pleasure to deal with. On our list for places to stay.

This property has great potential with a beautiful view outside and a walk to a beach. Nat communicated promptly. However, it was the worst place that any of the 5 of us have ever stayed. I personally have stayed at over 20 rentals. Upon entering the home, there was a musty smell, which we later learned was a leak from the upstairs bedroom to the hallway below. Nat did offer to buy us all dinner because of it and admitted he’s been trying to get it repaired. That same bedroom with 2 twin beds had no top sheets. I texted Nat and he informed me that they were in the closet of the sleigh bedroom. I went to look in there and to my astonishment It was a complete mess. There would be no way of finding those top sheets and if I did, I’d be afraid to use them on the bed. It was clear somebody lives here because the refrigerator had food on the shelves and one dedicated drawer marked Owner‘s drawer with produce and other food in it. There were some dirty dishes in the dishwasher, which Nat said was typical. There were crumbs on the counter and dirty dishes on the shelves which we put into the laundry room for his viewing. The floors were vacuumed as obvious by the 2 vacuum cleaners left out but they did not appear to be mopped in a very long time. The bedroom closets were packed in a disorganized way with owners things as were the shelves. There was no room to hang clothes. I was excited to see a kayak for use, but upon reaching it saw life vests covered with dirt and duck droppings.

First off, I never heard anything during her stay,and did talk to her during her stay as she was looking for a flashlight. While the house is not perfect, and the season was busy, this is extremely unfair and just punitive and mean. After her stay, she texted me, asking for a refund, "or I will take it up with VRBO" which I took as a threat to leave a bad review. I didnt refund her, as it was only three days, then this review came in. Again, the season was busy, but I take the cleanliness of the house very seriously, and have a cleaning crew of three women. I personally check the house after each cleaning, and there was no dirty counters or dishes. Most of her complaints were petty, and you could write a review like this for any house or hotel tbh. I would advise you TO LOOK AT ALL OF THE OTHER REVIEWS THIS YEAR.. Strange to only get this one awful review. Maybe she was having a bad week, or maybe she is just not nice..I dont k ow tbh.. But again LOOK AT THE OTHER REVIEWS, that really tells the story....

Nice Property & Excellent Host

To start, I need to say that I have read previous reviews of this property and I think much of what has been shared is unfair and inaccurate. Having traveled to Long Island many times visiting family, we would usually stay at the top rated hotel in central Suffolk County - a popular wedding venue. The rooms often upwards of $300 a night, not updated, damaged in many ways and drab. This home and the property it sits on is extraordinarily worth the expense when you have a need for two or more rooms. It’s beautiful, peaceful, private, and comfortable. It’s like staying at a private wildlife preserve given the abundance of deer and the variety of birds. Walk to the private beach down a path from the backyard, and you have vast views of Great South Bay and can meander searching for shells, rocks, and seaglass. It’s a bay, not the ocean - it’s a small beach, not Fire Island. But it’s private and you won’t see a soul - it’s unique. The home itself was as advertised - very clean, and everything the host stated would be available was stocked and ready for us. Nat is great to chat with via text or on the phone. We had a minor issue and he had a handyman on site within a few hours causing no inconvenience to us - problem solved faster than I can have something addressed at my own residence. I had questions about a few things unrelated and I had responses within a few seconds/minutes. We couldn’t find an ironing board - he had one delivered the next day. This is top notch hosting and my family staying at the home was thankful for his thoughtful and friendly hospitality. In sum - very accommodating host, beautiful property, nice and clean home exactly as described. Thanks for a great stay!

Charming and Spacious Home, Very r

Perfect house for family of several generations, including 18 month grandson. Very clean and well equipped. Great kitchen, dining and living area which became a focal point for gathering The playroom which opens into the kitchen was an added bonus with lots of toys for my grandson to explore and host thoughtfully left fresh chalk for him to draw on the blackboard walls. Great house

My family and I had a wonderful time. The beach is basically private and the property itself is incredibly quite. The play room was great and my kids very much loved the chalk board. We had a minor issue with the AC and the owner immediately jumped on it and got it fixed. It’s was a great place and we would absolutely stay there again.

Someone lives in this house until it is rented

All dressers had someone else’s clothes in it,as did the closets,a full refrigerator with someone’s food in it,a very strong odor of gas in the hallway where the washer and dryer and bathroom is located,showers had used bars of soap in them,it is in a nice location,but someone lives in this house year round until it is rented,and it shows

This review is inaccurate and frankly wrong on many points. First off, nobody lives in the house full time! We live in the city, and use it for weekends and holidays. We have used it more during covid, but it is NOT a fulltime residence. The refrigerator was NOT FULL. My cleaners assured me they only left condiments, and a few unopened items in the bottom vegetable drawer. Ive never had a smell of gas complaint, you should have called me and I would have sent my local handyman to investigate! There are only two dressers, one in master bedroom, and one in a guest bedroom, the personal items we leave in the house are locked in closets. The master bedroom dresser was EMPTY, as it always is and never has clothes in it. The other dresser did indeed have clothes in two drawers, that my son forgot to take out. I apologize! I dont know about the opened soap issue, but I am positve there were several bars of unopened soap in the bathrooms for use, as well as new shampoo. I was honestly taken aback by this review, Ive never had such a scathing take on my house... and I would only say the renter was having a bad day and feels good doing this for some reason..at least you liked the location ;-) I strive really hard to make the rental a great experience and take crits seriously. When someone complained of mosquitos a few summer ago, I hired a mosquito company to spray the yard every summer. I would also implore readers to look at other reviews, as they are OVERWHELMINGLY postive.

3 star stay with a 5 star pay tag

The house has a great location but it has been left without any maintenance and upkeep for years. It was not clean although we were charged $200 cleaning fee. The shower in the master bedroom was broken. It fell on the foot of my husband and caused a minor but painful bruise. The wiener new about it but he did nothing about it. The sink in the other bath was clogged. All the furniture was worn out and in need for repair. The presentation did not reflect the condition of the house.

Wonderful stay in Patchogue!

Nat was extremely responsive, from early on during booking through post-checkout, and he addressed any issues or questions that arose during the stay. The house was great -- extremely spacious and well-appointed -- and a great space for both gathering and finding solo time away from the group when needed. The private beach is a short walk down a path on the property and a great way to spend time sunbathing; consider bringing water shoes if planning to go for a swim since the entrance to the water is a little rocky. The private beach is also a great way to accommodate various people's interests -- they can come and go to the beach without everyone needing to pack up and commit to a full day to the beach. The house is a few minutes' drive from the town of Bellport and about 15 minutes from Patchogue, both of which have great restaurants and other amenities. Overall, it was a lovely, tranquil stay with a great host. We would definitely return. Thanks, Nat!

Unique house with character

Wonderful family retreat

Very nice and cozy home with an amazing view. It’s clean and well stock with all the amenities. The private beach is simply beautiful. It a very unique place to spend quality time with your family far away from the noisy city.

Wonderful Quiet Weekend Away

This property was perfect for a recent weekend girls' trip! The location was great - private and secluded, but close enough to restaurants and stores for necessities. The kitchen was well-stocked for cooking, and we easily enjoyed several meals at the house. The private beach was perfect for spending a few quiet days at the water! Home was spacious and comfortable for hanging out. Owner was also very responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay here again for some quiet time away from the city! A few notes for future visitors: - The mosquitoes and biting black flies were terrible outside due to the water, so bring bug spray and fly spray if you want to spend time in the beautiful yard, on the hammock or at the beach. - The beds on the property are all very firm. If this is an issue, you might want to bring a bed topper or extra comforter to sleep on. - The private beach is amazing, but I likely wouldn't swim there. We sunbathed and waded in the water, which was perfect - but it is rocky so I might recommend making the short trip to the local public beaches on the island if you want to swim. Overall, we loved our time here and would definitely recommend the property for a quiet getaway. Thanks again, Nat!

Beautiful house in a great location

This was a great house. My two brothers and I, along with our wives, had a family reunion here. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very nice and clean, the AC worked well, and the kitchen and eating areas were large and lovely. The furniture was eclectic and interesting, and there were many beautiful framed photographs throughout the house. Although we did not have any children with us, there was a very cool playroom that would be great for small children. The linens were nice, and the kitchen was adequately stocked with dishes, cooking utensils, etc. The neighborhood was lovely; very quiet and secluded. The property is on Great South Bay, which is beautiful, although the property’s beachfront per se is nothing special. Although I did not meet Nat in person, he was very organized and responsive. I would definitely rent this house again. There were a few imperfections: a couple of the kitchen appliances were filthy, and the outdoor seating area was not very appealing because all the cushions were extremely moldy.

Clean, spacious and family friendly

We stayed at Nat’s lovely home for a long weekend while meeting up with extended family in the area. The access to a small private beach on the bay, kayaking on the small pond and having a family- size dining area on a porch overlooking a large lawn made the time so fun for our family! The home feels spacious and clean and the kitchen was well-equipped. My kids enjoyed playing in the chalkboard room. We’d definitely come again!

Beautiful home! So much space, both outdoor and indoor and the beach was perfect! Couldn't have had a better stay!

Beautiful property, well-appointed and very comfortable.

Beautiful, quiet, large property. Very comfortable house, spacious with plentiful amenities. Well supplied kitchen. Kids' toy room a real bonus during a hot spell. Effective air-conditioning throughout the house compensated for outside temperatures. Most helpful, unobtrusive, owner.

Great spot for a family gathering

We really enjoyed our stay. Beds were comfortable and the lay out of the house was great for a family gathering. Plenty of space to gather together inside and outside. We saw some great wildlife - mother deer with two fawn and rabbit nursing her babies in the garden. Easy walk to the beach from the house. Would go back again!
