The island was beautiful as always, the house was clean and very well stocked with everything we needed to make elaborate meals in house to allow for social distancing. This rental is very roomy, much larger than it looks in the photos. Plenty of beds and two living room spaces to allow for spreading out. We had 5 adults and 6 kids from 8 months to 12 years old and everyone had plenty of room. Love the long hallway layout of bedrooms and baths lined up. Plenty of parking and a nice patio area out back. Short walk to the beach. The beaches were not too crowded allowing adequate room to spread out without mingling with others. Highly recommend the house and island.

April 2014 Stay

Another wonderful week in this cozy and comfortable house - our third time staying at Almost Heaven. The kitchen is so well equipped, and we love the open floor plan - so bright and spacious throughout. The video/cd collection was really appreciated during those rainy days - thanks for leaving such good instructions for the TV! The kids loved the extra boogie boards in the front porch shed - one less thing for us to pack. The huge diningroom table was the perfect spot for raucous games of dominoes and cards. We'll be back again soon - thanks so much for allowing us to share your home. The Ghoston/ Donaldson families (6 adults, 3 kids)

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Jekyll Island Property Management was great. I would use them again. The home was a great location, had lots of room. The furnishings were fine. The home needs painted inside and the carpet cleaned or removed. The showers are nice but tiny. There are no empty cabinets in the kitchen so no place for the renter to store food. I found this to be a big drawback especially since three large cabinets were crammed full of what appeared to be just junk. Overall the house is fine if you aren't expecting luxury and don't mind the owners' clutter. As with most rentals on Jekyll Island, the beds are too soft.

The Price is Right

Almost Heaven was our choice for location and price. The positives: location with great beach access was GREAT. Kitchen well stocked with dishes & utensils. Beds were comfortable & bathrooms were adequate. Nice new washer & dryer inside, which operated great. Nice Big TV! There are some negatives: I had hoped that reviews from 2 years ago about stained carpet etc had been taken care off, but they weren't. The white furniture was stained and dirty looking. I had extra sheets along so placed them over the furniture to avoid sitting on the dirt. Kitchen floor had white duct tape apparently over damage. Carpet was still very stained, & the house was very musty as others mentioned. There were no window areas to sit & enjoy views or watch the deer. Only patio doors looked out onto patio but surrounded with very high fence. All other windows were too high to look out. Some aspects of the kitchen were good, but no decent skillets, no roasters, no Keurig. Jekyll water tastes terrible; bring some. Never again for us.

The house was a disappointment, being in great need of updates, as the furniture and carpet was dirty looking and badly stained. Complaints from years ago are the same I have today. Positives are ample supply of dishes and utensils, but sorry set of skillets to cook with. The beds were comfortable and nice supply of pillows. Not a prime house to sit and look out the windows at nature, as the windows were too high and the patio doors in living room looking unto a patio that was concealed with a high fence. We won't be renting this house again. The low price drew us to it, but now we realize why. Jekyll Realty needs to do an inspection of their rentals before listing. This could be a prime house if updated and made user friendly.

The carpet needs taken out or professionally cleaned. Very stained. Invest in a dehumidifier for use when the house is not rented.

Nice location

Nice house, great location, plenty of space. It's a bit older, like the rest of Jekyll Island. Vacuum did not work but they replaced it the same day.

Reviewer Comments: We have stayed at several different properties in the last few years and Almost Heaven was the worst by far. Let me first say that the location was great and the size of the home was what we needed. But, the entire home is in terrible shape. It smelled like cigarette smoke. It was dirty. The carpets need to be replaced. The lampshades were so stained you couldn’t tell what color they were. The bed skirts and spreads were disgusting. One of them looked like a dog had peed on it. The couch covers were filthy we didn’t want to sit on them. Everything needs to be cleaned from the furniture to the walls and air vents. We will not stay here again.

Enjoy the Island

It was very clean, close to beach brought back old memories of staying here many many years ago. The house is quite full of eclectic furniture, books and decor.

The location is perfect, right off the beach, and the street is very quiet and pleasant. We were disappointed that the VHS players didn't work, as we were hoping to kick it old school. Other than that, it was perfect. And the people at the rental office were incredibly nice.

House was nice and roomy, Need major upgrades in bathroom, suggest you combine two into one and have the other as half bath, adult male or large female will not fit in two of the showers TVs in bedrooms look like they have been there since 1960s. These are so cheap can’t understand why not upgrade. Yards and back space is nice and good beach access. I suggest someone go through kitchen pans etc. many not useable. Maybe get cleaning service to do better job. I spent money on cleaning supplies especially bathrooms. could be great place with little improvements

Access to the beach was convenient. We would recommend replacing the carpet with a more beach friendly flooring as it is stained. Also the old receptacles in the hallway are loose and the router would not stay plugged in.

Needs TLC

First of all, I was not expecting a brand new house based on the price and pictures. However, when we arrived after many hours on the road, naturally we went to the bathroom first. One, bathroom overflowed and did not function properly all week. They did send someone out to look at it quickly. The verdict was a plumbing problem. That same bathroom was not cleaned as well. I liked the layout of the house. We had plenty of room to spread out. Purchasing a vegetable brush for the kitchen would not be an expensive addition. The kitchen could be organized better. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach. At low tide though, the water was too mucky to swim in. At high tide, there was no beach. After discovering this we went down the road a mile or 2 for better beaches. Loved all the books that were available to read. Overall, we enjoyed this house. A few upgrades, like new carpet would be nice. No problem with the washer and dryer. Nice neighbors too.

Great house for large family!

The house was perfect for our week long beach trip with members of our extended family! It gave us plenty of space with large bedrooms and had great benches in the hallways to act as our storage space. It was a quick walk to the beach (where we were only one of a few families in our stretch of beach) and only a few minutes to Main Street. Only suggestion I would make: 1- better vacuuming job as the carpets are old/ stained so the more you can spruce them up the better 2-new bedspreads; ours had many stains on them which made us question whether they were clean. I'm sure they were but some without stains on them would be nice. Overall, we would definitely rent this house again!
