Great place to stay in Deland

The Marigold is a great place. It was clean and looked as advertised. It was also centrally located.

Beautiful place! Quiet and nice and close to downtown!

We were able to bring our bikes along for the trip and used the map that was available to us to follow the murals around the town! It made for a nice adventure and a great way to learn about Deland! Thanks again for the basket of goodies! We really enjoyed our stay!

3rd Stay - LOVED IT!

The Floridian room was our 3rd stay at the Marigold. Once again we were very pleased. Big Kitchen, Big Master Bedroom, Big Bathroom, Big Laundry area in basement and Big Living Room with plenty of room on the couch with her own TV. Nice private porch and private parking area. All amenities needed were available.

Quaint, quiet great location for us

Our granddaughter was being baptized at St. Peter’s, and our sons home was filled with out of town family. So, we booked this spot. This was right across the street from church. We stayed a long weekend and this location is very close to all stores for party prep. We parked the rental car in front with off street parking. There are also many fun things to do close by, but that’s for next trip!

Great location!!

Our stay in this darling little home was in the ❤️️ of Deland within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants in their Historic District. The home was immaculate and supplied with everything you could possible need during your stay. We were not able to operate the TV and called the owner for assistance. He responded immediately and turned out we just needed to turn on the cable box😂. We will definitely stay there again when we visit our granddaughter next year. Thank you, Bill.

Good location, roomy

Our stay here was pleasant and it was nice to be able to walk downtown. The place itself was clean and comfortable. Only a few minor things were bothersome. Road noise was very loud. There was a very unpleasant smell in the house and we couldn't open some windows and others had no screens. Would have been nice to have a few more kitchen staples like sugar, salt etc. Communication with owner was wonderful tho.

Comfortable Stay

We enjoyed our stay in this property. The bed was super comfortable and BIG. We had all the amenities we needed, and the listing was exactly as advertised. It was a short walking distance from Historic Downtown and was convenient for coffee and ice cream.

If you come to Deland, this is the place to stay!

The host and hostess helped us with a number of unexpected happening during our stay. We are so grateful for their support. The unit which they provided for us was perfect for our needs. It is well stocked, attractive and peaceful... A perfect retreat.

Booked us in a unit already Rented

We were coming to attend a funeral for a dear friend. I was looking for a pet friendly place to stay for 2 nights. We looked at pictures online of the place we booked. Looked nice! Within 24 hours after we paid the mgr called said that rental should NOT have been available. He said they could upgrade us or refund monies paid. Sheer panic set in since we were headed to Florida with no place to stay. I did agree to the UPGRADE. However, it was not the equivalent of what we saw online. The unit was NOT updated, with bugs (I have pics) with frogs!! Never again! I wished I had said REFUND!

More than adequate...

If you don’t mind being on a busy street, this rental is very accommodating, and is within walking distance of downtown DeLand. The property manager is very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Cook’s Buffet. Best time to go is mid-afternoon. And Barkley Square dog park is a must if you have four-legged family with you. Jim

Great place in perfect location

Love this place, coffee on wonderful covered front porch. Walk to quint downtown. Close to Great Beaches, Springs, River and Orlando.

Charming, large, clean, and centrally-located

My spouse and I stayed for four weeks and thoroughly enjoyed Deland. The apartment is very spacious and the bed was comfortable. The kitchen area allowed us to prepare our own meals when we wanted, and having the use of a washer/dryer meant we could avoid a laundromat. We brought our bikes with us, and were able to lock them up on thefront porch. Deland is beautiful! We enjoyed riding our bikes around town to get familiar with it. Bill and Erin had a binder full of activities and sights to see in the area. Do check out some of the local hot springs, or for a real treat, drive to the Kennedy Space Center, Daytona or New Smyrna Beach!

Perfect!

We stayed at the Floridian because we were in the process of closing on a house in DeLand. Coming from Chicago we had no idea what to expect, but it was a perfect location to explore our new town before we got settled in our new house. We will recommend this place to anybody that needs a place to stay in the future.

About Bill Watford

I am a native Floridian. There are a lot of nice cities in Florida and my two favorite small towns are Deland on the east side of the state and Cedar Key due west on the Gulf of Mexico.

I started buying houses to rent as an investment while I had a full time day job, my first in 1985 and I still own it - the Cedar House of Deland. My full time job today is managing the vacation rentals and short stay properties that I own.

I have several in Deland: The Units of the Deland Marigold, Grandma's Place, and The Cedar House. I also have two in Cedar Key: The TreeHouse and Goose Cove Cottage.

I enjoy what I do and am passionate about seeing that my guests have a great experience while staying in one of my properties.

This property is located only 4 blocks from the center of Deland, an historic town with a rich culture going back to the Mid 1800’s. It has been voted the Best Small Town in America several times. This property’s
location is in a very private enclave that most people don’t even know is there with close proximity to historic downtown full of locally-owned shops and restaurants.. It’s as if you are in the quiet of the country. You can hear the bells of St Peters Cathedral across the street and even the gentle waters of their fountain. It is within walking distance of the beautiful campus of Stetson University and also only 3 miles away from the St. Johns River.
