Aloha Tim. We certainly had some 'weather' during your stay, including the unusual 24 hour power outage to the entire West side of Maui! I'm not sure of the emergency lighting issue, and will look into it. I apologize also for the beach chairs. We recently replaced two of them, but sometimes they don't find their way back to the condo, so will have to check to see what happened. Hopefully, conditions will be better on your next visit. A hui ho!

Mahalo nui! One of the things we love about our location is that we are part of a wonderful neighborhood with lots of options within walking distance. Check out Chef David's cinnamon buns - but arrive early before he sells out!

It is a good reminder that while most everything you might need in terms of views, beach access and so on is available right outside your door, there are nearby alternatives. Often, if we happen to get an overcast or rainy day, you will find that 10 minutes down the road in Lahaina it’s glorious sunshine. Never be afraid to step out and make your own adventures!

Mahalo! You probably caught the last of the humpbacks before they began their long swims back to Alaska. They are usually gone in April or early May at the latest.

The star watching can be terrific, especially off our upper level lanai. We do ask everyone at Lokelani to keep outside lights to a minimum to help with the views. As for jogging, something we tend to avoid anymore, there are a lot of options. If you head south from our condo about a mile, you will have sidewalks the whole way. You can then cut through a beach parking lot and pick up the north Kaanapali boardwalk. There tend to be a lot of folks strolling there, but it's still a pleasant run (as much as one can be so 😜)

Mahalo for your review! This time of year, the day doesn't start until you've seen your 'morning whale' from one of the lanais - which generally doesn't take long. Of course the views are pretty nice the rest of the year too. Your note on the pots and pans is a good reminder. We fairly recently upgraded a number of the kitchen tools - new knives, cutting boards, insulated tumblers, etc. We'll put new pans on the list next! Mahalo for staying with us for your Maui vacation! Your comments on the beach and our steps are good points. The extent of the beach is heavily influenced by prevailing winds, surf and tide. Some times it stretches the length of our condo complex and across the neighboring condos, and at others it is comparatively small. Seasons also seem to play a major role, with the beach tending to be much smaller in summer than winter. I stayed in the condo immediately after you, and had never seen the sand as low as it was this July - normally it is halfway up the staircase, not all the way at the bottom. Clearly, the higher the sand, the more beach we will have. I'm happy to report that by the time I left in early August, the sand was starting to recover. As to the missing forks, I'll have to admit that it's a constant struggle to keep everything that belongs in the condo in place. Some things just seem to have minds of their own and decide to wander off, probably as friends and family get together across multiple units for group food and fun. We will continue to try to train our things to stay put, and in the mean time will recruit some new forks (and whatever else) onto the Lokelani C205 team as needed. Mahalo nui for your kind words! It sounds like you got out quite a it in the short time you were on-island - Ho'omaika'i Ana (Congratulations!). There's certainly no shortage of things to see and do on the beautiful island of Maui. Driving some or all of the northwest shore gets less attention than some other trips such as the road to Hana (though some of the locals prefer it that way). Even if you don't want to drive all the way around, there are some spectacular views just a few miles past Kapalua on Highway 30. Stop at the (dirt parking lot) overlook of Honolua Bay to watch all the surfers, especially in the winter months. If you choose to go on, you're in for some more treats further up the road! Kipa Hou Mai - come visit again!

As you note, in addition to the refund we provided, we in fact have changed over our management and cleaning service to the new provider you interacted with. Our previous manager had provided years of good support, but the combination of a change in ownership and post-COVID staffing challenges appears to have been too much for them.
