Amazing hospitality, delightful decor (take me to the Jersey Shore or the Oregon Coast), clean and comfortable, off-street parking, beautiful forest setting, well equipped kitchen, if not inclined to cook, then eateries of every type a close scenic drive away. We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is cute, clann and full of thoughtful Items from the hosts. Don and Candy were very welcoming and readily available if there are any issues, which there were none. Location is great for enjoying the Payson area. Would highly recommend.

Amazing!!

It was amazing, our hosts greeted us happily, showed us around, gave us the BEST recommendations!Theres alot to do around the area and in the area! Ask Candy and Don about anything and im sure theyll have an answer Will be looking to come back in the future as long as they have us!!!

Warm Hosts, Thoughtful Touches, and a Memorable Stay

We had a wonderful stay at Candy and Don’s charming vacation home! From the moment we arrived, they were incredibly welcoming—offering a warm introduction and sharing helpful local tips for both our visit and our upcoming U.S. travels. The whimsical decor throughout the house gave it a fun, personal touch, and the surprise gift basket made us feel right at home. We especially appreciated their recommendations to visit Meteor Crater and Walnut Canyon—both were highlights of our trip. While cell service was a bit spotty, the strong Wi-Fi kept us connected, and a mattress topper could be a nice addition for guests with back issues. Overall, a delightful and memorable stay—we’d absolutely return!

Exactly what we needed

We had such a great amazing time. Don and Candy were amazing hosts. Very friendly without intruding. Candy made sure we had everything we needed and then some, right down to a beautiful gift basket with a bottle of wine waiting for us. I know I will contact them again.

Enjoyable getaway

Don and Candy were excellent hosts. The cottage was perfect for us to getaway for a long weekend. The location was great for hiking and close to Payson to explore the town.

Weekend getaway from the valley

We were greeted by the best hosts ever-Don and Candy! They made sure the place was perfectly clean and adorably decorated. It’s such a serene environment and cozy atmosphere for a romantic getaway. We enjoy staying here and will continue to come as often as we can. Best place to stay in Payson!

Peaceful spot

Lovely, well-equipped, cottage-like place. The outside patio area is wonderful! The hosts thought of absolutely everything to make the place a "home away from home." And they couldn't have been nicer. We will stay here again!

Best place in Payson

This was our second time staying at A Shore Thing and I knew it was exactly what I needed. The property is so welcoming and tastefully decorated. I chose this place this time for the tranquility as I needed space to work through a recent loss. It was good for my soul. Our hosts were more than understanding about my needs. Don and Candy love to socialize with their guests and are great company. We plan on returning in the not too distant future and will plan on spending more time with these lovely people.

Welcome to E. Verde Estates....One of the best kept secrets you will find! Located geographically near the center of AZ. At the gateway to the white mountains & at our 5000' elevation you will experience all four seasons. Cooler than Phoenix in summer & warmer than flagstaff in winter, yet within 2 hrs of either. If interests are: Grand Canyon & mighty Colorado river, red rocks of Sedona, petrified forest, painted desert, natural bridge(less than 10 min), meteor crater, sunset crater, ice caves, indian ruins, out of africa zoo or perhaps..Hiking, biking, snow skiing, ATV activities, zip lining or exploring many miles of trails throughout az's magnificent ponerosa forests, we have it all! You may prefer golf, bowling, fishing, water skiing, boating with just a short drive @lakes: Powell, Roosevelt, Bartlett, Pleasant, Saguaro & Havasu or whitewater rafting on the Colorado or Salt rivers.
