石造りの改造されたコーチハウスと穀倉は、1950年代までこの場所で運営されていた古代の水車小屋に使用されていました。現在の所有者は、独立したバスルーム（シャワー付き）を備えた魅力的なオープンプランのアパートメントに改装しました。設備の整ったキッチン/ダイニングエリア、ベッドルームエリア（カーテンで開閉可能）、シングルベッド2台とダブルソファベッドがあります。せせらぎの小川、木のブランコ、トランポリン、手入れの行き届いた芝生、屋外用家具を備えた2ヘクタールの静かな庭にあります。プロパティはよく使用される歩道の交差点にあり、楽しいワイト島ロバサンクチュアリからフィールドを歩いてわずか数分です。スティープヒルコーブ、シャンクリン、ベントナーなどの美しいビーチに簡単にアクセスできます。多くのパブ、レストラン、カフェのある美しい観光村ゴッズヒルから1.6 km（1マイル）です。

Paradise!!

Stunning property & grounds with a beautiful stream & gardens galore. Historic grain mill turned into an adorable cottage with all the amenities. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend to others. Especially fabulous for families, our boys adored staying in the Romany Wagon! We were fortunate to meet the owners, Rebecca & Guy, who are lovely hosts. Very close to both the ferry port & sights we visited.

Lovely family retreat!

Me and my wife just enjoyed a mini break to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary, along with our two toddlers and little dog. We had a wonderful weekend and wished we could stay a bit longer! The Granary is in an ideal location to relax and unwind and a short drive away from the beach and other activities. We will almost certainly be aiming to return in 2026!

A delightful cottage in the most charming garden

The Granary is quirky and very comfortable, equipped with everything you need for a self catering stay. The garden is just wonderful and the real highlight of our stay. Rebecca is a five star host and we can’t recommend her property highly enough. With a car or bicycles, it’s in an ideal location for exploring the island. Without, the buses are frequent, convenient and inexpensive.

Long weekend break

Good location and nice property

I liked it. The romany caravan in the grounds was lovely and the property itself was very nice. The check in was easy. There is a long and interesting garden. It was easy to reach everywhere on the island.

A very happy stay on the much loved Isle of Wight

Loved staying at the French Mill. The Romany Wagon was definitely an added bonus for the girls. It gave them a truly magical and memorable experience. Ideally located and charming holiday rental property for visiting the island. Only sorry not to have been able to actually meet our host Rebecca who was very communicative and helpful before and during our stay.. we were also pretty fortunate with the weather. Hope to come back one day …

Short Break

The Granary is very sweet and very nicely fitted out. Perfectly suited for either a short break or a young family perhaps. It is set in lovely grounds which when I was there were full of daffodils. I have two small gripes: the mattress made my back ache it was so hard and the internet was definitely dodgy on the first night but then work very well afterwards

Ideal for us

Lovely and cosy with double glazing. Couldn`t hear the main road or the incredible winds we experienced when we were there. A lovely run in the garden for Chief who enjoyed it there. IOW people, as polite as ever and the island was so dog friendly, there was nowhere we wern`t accepted. Perfect! Lovely hosts that were as efficient and friendly as possible. Holiday at the Granary

The place is like a literal fairy tale. There is a stream in the backyard with a tiny little boat house for children to play with. Flowers all over the place, and you step into a literal forest from the back of the house. It is stunning and unspeakably peaceful. Rebecca is a lovely host she was always available, even gave us a jar of home made jam as a gift to take with us. It was a perfect holiday, we made so many memories on the island, I can't recommend enough. We are hoping to return in the future.

Pretty But

The Granary was very sweet....but there was no welcome pack. There was no milk and the basics that were in the kitchen were in greasy jars. Stuff that had been left by previous guests were stuck to each other and stuck to the shelves. There were no towels, so as soon as we arrived we had to go to the supermarket to purchase some. Once we had bought the essentials, we had a lovely time there. The garden was lovely, as was the owner.

Beautiful oasis we didnt want to leave

Its a much bigger property plot than i imagined from the description , lush and green with a delightful stream on the property, rope swing, huge firepit,gigantic trampoline and a gypsy wagon - all these made both adults and kids equally happy. I heard so many genuinely giggles and "wow" that made my mother's heart extremely happy. It's got games, books, fully equipped kitchen if you are into cooking and to be honest is more than enough things to do there without the need to even leave the property as such. Plenty of things to do around within walling distance and short driving distance. The owner is super helful too! Note to self no 1: to read the description better and all the way to the bottom as bedding /towels wasn't included into shorter stays ( the owner advised where to purchase cheap ones as we didn't bring any) Note to self No 2: Though yes 4 ppl can sleep there in fact id say even 7 in summer time , there's no separate bedroom. All thr sleeping arrangements are in the lounge. Having said that ,in our case the parents slept in the gypsy wagon while the child and grandparent in the main house. If the child was a bit older or it was couple of them, or it was warmer, im sure we'd be fighting for that gypsy wagon sleeping arrangements:) Overall,fabulous stay, all of us, including the pet, returned home fully recharged, thank you!

Owner not aware of her responsibilities when letting

We rented the cottage for three days in July. The owner was appalling. She said she had no cleaners and would we clean the cottage and change the bed linen for the next guests. She said she couldn’t understand why the previous guests had written in the comments book that the cottage was dirty. As my friend is a very conscientious person she got up very early on the last day and spent three hours cleaning the cottage, even though we hadn’t cooked or been in during the day. This had hung over her during the stay and did not make for a relaxing time. At the owner’s request for an earlier check in time, we arrived 10 minutes before we said and she was annoyed “I haven’t put the dinner out” and disappeared for 20 minutes. She then criticised people who did short lets of 3 days and she wanted to make financial penalties for this– it was only vacant for three days. A note in the kitchen said that all breakages must be replaced, the crockery etc was mismatched left overs or cheap; in contrast the owner of the previous cottage we had been to wrote “ don’t sweat the breakages its only IKEA”. The kitchen cupboards and shelves were full of left overs from other guests.

オーナー : Mrs Rebecca Phillipson

Guy and Rebecca Phillipson spend their time between Oxford (where Rebecca works during term time) and the island, where they spend most weekends as well as school holidays. Until a serious accident in 2021, Guy was a competitive cyclist, holding records for many stretches of road on the island. Although he can no longer cycle competitively, he still enjoys taking his bike out around the island's quiet roads. He can advise guests on cycle routes and hire facilities. Rebecca is a photographer and gardener, spending much of her time on the island tending to the extensive garden, including a large greenhouse (our silver wedding present to ourselves) and productive vegetable garden. She is an expert jam maker and will happily provide you with some of her homemade jams, made from produce grown in the garden. Rebecca has enjoyed furnishing the 1906 gypsy caravan and is slowly restoring the exterior.
Guy and Rebecca have two grown up daughters. When in residence, the owners stay in the main house, situated on the other side of the driveway from the Granary, which has its own garden area. The Granary is only offered for rental over the spring and summer. However we do consider out of season rentals. Please place an enquiry and we will be happy to discuss your requirements.

This property is ideal if you want a quiet retreat surrounded by nature (we have woodpeckers and buzzards nesting on our land). It is perfect for children, who can enjoy paddling in the stream or playing on the trampoline and tree swing, as well as the novelty of sleeping in a real gypsy caravan. It is perfect for walkers as it is situated on the intersection of several footpaths, leading to Freemantle gate, the Worsley monument and Godshill, or to Newchurch in the other direction. However, if you are hoping to visit all the island's attractions, it is convenient to have a car.

この宿泊施設の特徴

The grounds of French Mill are delightful in spring and summer. A paradise for adventurous children and big enough to exercise dogs. Our Romany wagon is a rare and unique piece of history. Built in Burton on Trent in 1906, it is of a type known as Burton Wagons, and would originally have been made for a showman travelling around county fairs. It is in extremely good condition, complete with all its interior carved wood and mirrors. We have chosen not to restore the cooking range as this could provide a fire hazard. Instead we use the space for an electric socket to power fairy lights and lamps around the interior. The main bed occupies the space across the end of the caravan and has three windows, while the lower bunk is an exotic cubby hole, also 6 feet in length, but without windows.
While the cottage is well equipped, it is certainly not a five star hotel. If you want high spec accommodation, the Granary may not be for you. Being an old building (with an old drainage system and old water pipes) it does have its drawbacks. However, if it is a big wild garden with lots of wildlife and home grown veg that you are after, please come and stay.
