The house is located precisely in the ancient Jewish neighborhood of Ortigia known as Giudecca, which is one of the most historic communities of the island. In this location there are many sacred Christian buildings that were constructed above ruins of synagogues and underground dungeons. Many of the buildings in this location are characterized by mixed architectural styles. For instance, the Sicilian Baroque and the Hebrew Israelite styles, with elements that go back to the Medieval and Renaissance periods. These architectural styles are also demonstrated throughout the narrow alleyways and winding streets that make up the Giudecca neighborhood. One of the most attractive places is the Jewish Baths that are located 20 meters below ground level. There you will discover purification basins, where fresh water still flows today. In the near vicinity you can savor some of the tastiest foods the island has to offer. If your appetite calls for mouthwatering typical Sicilian specialties, I highly recommend Oinos, Le Vin de l'Assassin Bistrot and Locanda Maniace restaurants. All are located within a 5-10 minute walk from the house where you can enjoy a clean and relaxing atmosphere.
