Medioevo & Design is a superb starting point for your tour of Umbria.

Few minutes (10km) to reach, by car, the medieval town of Todi with its monuments and a summer music & theatre festival, numerous celebrations during civil and religious festivities or for the Saints of the city (Christmas, Easter, Pentecost). Close to Todi there is a well-known city famous all around the world, where they create and work important pieces of ceramic, which is Deruta.

This green region can also offer other stunning locations to explore all around:

-Perugia, with its historical buildings, the International Journalism Festival (spring season), the fascinating Jazz music festival (summer season), the Eurochocolate’s festival (fall season).

-Assisi, with famous Basilicas of Saint Francis and Saint Claire.

Spoleto with its “Festival Dei Due Mondi”; Bevagna and its Roman remains; Montefalco and its famous wine: the Sagrantino.

-Foligno with its medieval festival of “Quintana” and Spello with its hamlet and the magical floral display on the ground during the Pentecost.

-Gubbio, with its historical and famous race on the day of Saint Ubaldo (protector of the city), every year on May 15th.

-Orvieto with the Duomo, an underground tunnelling system, the antique papal residence, the “Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo”, the Albornoz fortress, the “Pozzo di San Patrizio” (St. Patrick’s Well).

-Terni with “Cascate delle Marmore”, a beautiful green area with waterfall.

The cities listed above and many more are all about 30-40 km from the Tower.

The area also offers a great variety of local and delicious wine and food. Umbrian olive oil is famed and well-known; the wine produced in these lands is gaining increasing appreciation all over the world. The local black truffle and the finest white one are the major ingredient of delicious and typical dishes. A wine tasting tour can’t be complete without a tour to “Tenuta Castelbuono” (Bevagna), a famous winery whose cellar has been designed by Italian sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro, his “first sculpture in which one can live and work”.

Medioevo & Design can be considered one of the most unique villas to rent in italy that lies on top of a hill and offers a unique observation point on the unspoiled Umbrian landscape. The castle is part of a group of strongholds around Todi: Guests will find high quality comfort and enjoy the special experience of living their holidays in a medieval tower. The five floors which culminate in a breath-taking panoramic terrace of 24 meters in height have been converted to suites and apartments. Each room, although keeping its original architectural features – terracotta and white travertine marble floorings, beamed ceilings, sandstone fireplaces –, has a unique furnishing that skillfully combines family furniture with design pieces. The property is equipped with private pool with 8 sun loungers and 4 deckchairs, remote controlled gate, security cameras and anti-theft devices. Each guest can enjoy large halls while relaxing in total privacy in intimate spaces. Entering this beautiful tower, on the right there is a staircase that allows the access to all the various floors, while, on the left, an aisle takes first to the tasting room (equipped also with a half bathroom) then leads to the elevator; it follows, in front, a wide and luminous dining room equipped with a table for 12 people and attached kitchen.

Once reached the first floor, a little hallway, which is replicated at the entrance of each floor, separates the first two suites, the Red Room and the White Room: on the right, the bright White Room made by its own hallway at the enter, a bathroom with shower and Jacuzzi, a tea room (ideal for reading when needed) where an added bed for a child/teenager could be placed and, the, the first double bedroom. On the same floor, but on the left, is placed the Red Room with its wide open space, a bathroom with shower on the right and a double bedroom on the left.

The second floor is totally dedicated to the Gold Apartment, consisting, on the left, of a lounge area equipped with a table for 12 people plus a bathroom with shower, and, on the right another bathroom with hydro massage shower and sauna and the 2 double bedrooms.

The Blue Apartment, on the upper floor is made up by a lounge area, a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom with shower, to which follow another bathroom with Jacuzzi, double shower and double sink and then the 2 double bedrooms (of which one with French bed).

On top of the tower, a charming and spacious where is placed a table suitable for 12, a barbeque, a cold outdoor shower and 2 sun loungers.

The tower is surrounded by a secular park, where the owners have reinstated the structure of the 19th century garden enriched by a wide and precious antique rose’s collection. Plunged in the green is also the 18th century recently restored small chapel, particularly inviting for any religious celebration. It is also possible to relax in the design pool and enjoy the sight of the near old olive grove framed in breathtaking sunsets.

Touristic services can be arranged with the guests: vintage rental, guided tours, personal shopper, tasting, painting courses, personal trainers, massages, etc.
