Oakley Doke!

This property has a cottage feel, but the fenced back yard and large screened back porch make it seem spacious enough to meet every need a small family or group could have. We’ve chosen it 3 times.

Quiet, well stocked and convenient

We enjoyed 2+ weeks at this quiet, very well stocked and convenient house. It is an older home but some updates have been made. This home was better stocked than any rental we've ever rented (and we rent a LOT). They provided toilet paper and paper towels (but we are snobs so we brought our own) as well as hand soap, dishwasher soap and pods, washing machine pods, coffee for drip and keurig and there were lots of spices too. The one thing they could use in the kitchen is some flatware. There are a lot of options to watch tv and games and videos.The backyard is fenced, but if you have dogs it is sand, not grass; and there are no lights for the backyard at night. The screen door was broken but we let Donna know; she was very responsive for any questions or issues.Oak Island and South Port are very easy to get around and convenient, including the beach which is about 1 block away.

Great beach property for dogs

The property was great for our dogs first beach trip. The dogs (and we) loved the screened in patio and fenced in back yard. Location was great - seamless drive to beach access on SE 40th St and couple min drive to local restaurants. Neighborhood is very pleasant and great for evening strolls with the doggos. The house itself is very quaint and homey. King bed was also comfortable. We will definitely be back soon!

The property was just perfect for our weekend getaway with our dog. Very cozy, and a short hop to the beach. Highly recommend!

Great place to stay.

The location was great- just a couple blocks from the pathway over the marsh to the ocean. The house was very clean and comfortable. Had a little issue with getting the lock box opened to get in the house but Donna answered our call and talked us through it. Would definitely stay again in the future.

Oak Island House

House was great for the two of us and our little dog. Spent a lot of time on the screened porch and our dog loved the fenced back yard. Very comfortable king bed, good location, we enjoyed our stay.

Happy Thanksgiving

This was our second stay in this cozy, clean, comfortable home. It’s very well appointed, with everything we needed at our fingertips. The back yard is perfect for dogs. The neighborhood is calm & friendly and a short 5-block walk to the beach access street. We highly recommend this home away from home.

We booked this house for a mini get away. When we walked in I knew instantly that we had been here before. Sure enough , we had stayed here 4 years ago. Loved it then, love it more now. When we booked this great house, we didn't realize we had stayed here in March 2019. When we walked in the door the memory came back. This is such a great home !!! Awesome for our fur baby !!!! Girls Getaway

The house was very comfortable and well appointed. It was perfect for my two small dogs as well having the fenced in back yard and screened porch. We were also very close to the beach, restaurants and shops. Donna was very responsive and attentive to our needs. Would definitely stay here again! Lisa C

Great getaway

Very nice. My only complain it that for the amount of the "cleaning fee," The sheets should have been put on the bed. We arrived late and would just have been nice not have had to do that.

Pet Friendly

We choose rentals in part based on our dog. We can relax and enjoy things more knowing our pet is ok . Having said this, the house we chose was a little disappointing. Although listed as pet friendly with screened in porch and fenced yard, when we arrived the first rules were no pets on furniture and we found that the screened porch leaked when it rained ( to point of flooding) so the whole place didn't seem pet friendly at all. Also would like to mention the washer had sign that said not to leave unattended as it would not stop washing. so when I did laundry I had to be at house and keep checking to see when cycle ended so I could manually stop machine. Other that this the house was nice, just don't think it should be listed as a pet friendly place.

Lovely Stay

Tranquil Harbor was a lovely home in a quiet neighborhood on Oak Island. We enjoyed our stay. Everything was exactly as described in the listing. We were traveling with two dogs and the fenced in backyard was great. We also enjoyed the screened in porch on the back side of the house.

Relaxing Retreat

I didn't want to write a great review, because this gem will book up even more than it already has!!! My boyfriend, pup and I had a wonderful long weekend here, even with the hurricane and COVID. Donna was extremely responsive in letting us know the property was not damaged and we were located in the ideal spot- just a short drive to the beach and many local businesses! The BIG thing for us is that this place was CLEAN and dog friendly!!! My pup loved the backyard!

Very disappointing

The house has an older mildew smell that’s so strong you can smell it walking up to the door. The floor had visibly not been swept or mopped. The cabinets had food and liquids dried up running down them, along with the kitchen window and blinds. There was too many roaches and water bugs to even count. Washing machine was broken and couldn’t be left unattended. Master bedroom closet was locked with a key so we had nowhere to hang up any clothes. There’s a fee to use the linens in the house, which are all old worn out sheets and towels from Walmart (mainstays, better home & garden). Couldn’t even tell the house was at the beach. It was like staying at grandmas house. All the decor is visibly old and dusty. There were no knives to use in the kitchen. All the silverware was disgusting, along with plates and cups. Dishes had been used and not cleaned but put away. There was no ironing board or iron to use. Only has one wifi network for phones, and the smart tv in the home. 17 channels on cable to watch in the bedroom, and that was all. There are so many properties around oak island and Southport both that are so much nicer and cheaper than this property. Will never stay here again. Don’t waste your money, unless you’re fine with staying in a dirty house.

Great size for a 2 bedroom

This was a cozy house which had great use of the space. The house was clean and well taken care of. There was plenty of living room seating for my family and we never felt cramped. we really enjoyed relaxing on the screened in porch while our dog wandered around the fenced in back yard. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed our few meals in. The location was convenient as it was a short drive to beach parking. My family would definitely enjoy staying here again.

NOT wheelchair accessible as advertised!

Very disappointed and frustrated, this property was advertised as wheelchair accessible and was not in anyway. My husband is in a wheelchair and every entrance has steps going into the house, the beds are all extremely high making it nearly impossible to transfer from a wheelchair into the bed, the only dining table in the house is bar height with bar stools, so my husband couldn't even have meals with us unless we went outside. The bathroom is so small you can't get a wheelchair in enough to reach the toilet. The bathroom is a regular tub without even a grab bar! So my husband could not bathe the entire stay. I don't know if the owner is ignorant to the needs of disabled people or just greedy to try to attract more guest, but this house is not wheelchair accessible. Do not rent this house if you are disabled. If the owner has any morals or ethics she will take wheelchair accessible off her listing. Its a daily challenge to be disabled or take care of someone who is disabled without someone adding more obstacles.

Nice, easy process and great location

Fully stocked kitchen, nice screened in back porch and quiet street. Very easy experience and would recommend for families or couples.
