My wife, our infant daughter, our friends (another couple) and their infant daughter stayed here for about four days.
I'll start by saying that the location is great. Lots of privacy. About 20 minutes from Mt. Shasta (the town), Lake Siskiyou, etc. The house itself is big, with three bedrooms, a nice sized common area, and it's all on a pretty big plot of land that's surrounded by trees (again, lots of privacy).
But there were a few issues that were hard for us to ignore.
First, the AC problem. I'll note that the listing very clearly says that the house does NOT come with AC. This was not at all misleading, and we knew going in that it might be warm in the day but could expect considerably cooler evenings. In fact, when night rolled around, we often had to turn off the fan in the room because it got so chilly. The issue, really, is that the front yard of the house is essentially just a dirt pit. And because there's no AC in the house, because we have to keep the windows open all day to let some breeze in and heat out, all that dirt from the front "yard" ends up inside the house. This means not only that the floors are constantly dirty (which, fine, we can wear shoes or sandals or socks), but that there's a layer of dirt on all the couches/sofas, the countertops, the coffee machine, stove, etc. Essentially anything you leave out will end up with a layer of dirt on it. This makes for a really uncomfortable situation. And you can't really close the windows because of how warm it can get.
I'm not saying they need to install an AC. It's livable without one. But you can't not have an AC and have a pit of dirt outside the house. Maybe get some pavers or gravel or something. Anything to cover up that dirt.
The second thing is the water heater. The breaker switched off a few times. We emailed the owner about this, and to his credit, he responded fairly quickly, but we decided against having him or a repairman come out and to just check the breaker over and again (we really didn't want to deal with a lengthy repair on our vacation). This was our choice and not necessarily a knock on the house. That said, it sucks for the breaker to consistently go out. Another issue is that the water heater basically allowed for only two showers. Not sure if it's got a ton of build-up inside, but we found ourselves having to boil water for our kids' baths.
All in all, this is a nice place, but you should know these bits of info before booking.
