We loved that we could bring our dog. The cabin was very modern and very clean. The dock and beach were bonus pleasures and the view was breathtaking all day long. The sunsets were different each night and spectacular.

Very nice cottage, well equipped. We loved the lake, and the access from the cottage is good. It was very private for us, as the cottage that shares access to the dock and the small 'beach' was vacant during our stay. The host is very responsive, and that was much appreciated. Overall, a good experience.

Lakefront Getaway

We were looking for a quiet fall getaway with lakefront views, sunsets, and access to kayaks. We found that in this quaint cabin. We appreciated that the cabin was pet-friendly. The fire pit by the water was lovely, and the views from the deck were fabulous. We spent time reading, taking walks, and enjoying the fresh air while cooking simple meals.

Beautiful Lake and Cozy Cottage

This cottage was very cozy, clean and comfortable. The vicinity of being right on the lake was picturesque. Ducks were on the pier everyday and we saw an eagle fishing for food. My husband would have preferred to have a fire in the evening, however he did not feel that was possible with the proximity of the firepits. We will be back to the area someday because the wineries were superb!

Robin, Hi, I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay at my cottage and the beautiful views from the deck. I agree, we have wonderful wineries on the eastside of Cayuga Lake to visit. Feel free to use the upper or beachside firepit next time you visit, they have been used safely over the years .

Eclipse rental

We stayed here to experience the eclipse, and were the first renters of the season. This charming cottage is right on the water, is very well appointed, and is located near many wineries and Cornell University. There was a bit of an ant problem, but it was not a major issue overall.

Fun at the Lake!

My family of 5 had the best time at the little green Sunset Cottage! It is well equipped with everything you would need for a trip to the lake - kitchenware, towels, extra blankets if needed, kayaks, even a few kids toys outside. Very comfy and cozy! The outdoor space is fantastic between the two outdoor porches and the lakeside seating below. The shallow grade of the lake made this a wonderful place for our 3 kids to swim and play without worry of being too deep. Perfect sunset views and a nice breeze to boot! We look forward to staying here again!

Nice place and close to everything we wanted to see.

We had a great time there. The cottage is nice but could use air conditioning in the main bedroom. It was cozy and the view was spectacular, especially at sunset. For those with littles, be aware that there is a drop off just beyond the deck that could pose a problem for the littles, and you need water shoes to take advantage of the lake. It's a rocky shoreline and even with water shoes, I slipped on the rocks and got some minor cuts and scrapes. That being said, we had a great time and didn't have any problems with noise in the neighborhood until the weekend. We had great neighbors in the other cabin, but they used the firepit by the water every night so we ended up leaving without any bonfires since we didn't feel safe having a bonfire directly under a tree with low hanging branches. The owner was quick to respond to any any issues that arose. incitesproblem,

Hi Lorianne, Thanks for your review and to clarify a few things I ask my guest to call/text me right away if they need something, I have an additional air conditioner and would have brought it over if asked, also the lakeside fire pit is to be shared when both cottages have people...as well as the two kayaks, I will add that to my welcome sheet for better communication. Typically the property next to mine, ,a rv/marina area, is very quiet so the Friday night that you were there before leaving must have had some extra people come in to enjoy the weekend.. Hope you had a good trip and yes the views and sunsets are amazing..!!

Beautiful view! Very nice, cozy little cottage. Can watch the magnificent sunsets from the comfort of the couch. And very nice to be able to get to the water right out back. All in all, we had a fun week together with our dog. Some FYIs...Was not expecting to have to drive through a RV park to get to it. Thankfully it was very quiet during the week, only got a little less peaceful on the weekends. There is no hot tub like the listing says. I verified this with the owner beforehand so not a complaint just a FYI.Some cons...Not very clean. There were crumbs all over the countertops and tables. The pans in the oven had oil and crumbs all over them. The coffee mugs were stained and not clean either. A lot of spiderwebs in corners of the rooms (but to be fair they reappear quickly)Also, there was only enough dish soap and hand soap for 1 day. Wound up buying it for ourselves when I went to get groceries along with paper towels and toilet paper. Only 1 and a partial roll of each provided. Again to be fair, I didn't ask the owner for more, but for the price would have expected this all to be provided. Lastly, the bed was hard as a rock. Was forced to buy a foam mattress topper from walmart to get any sleep.

Hi Laura, I just read your comments and had to respond..Yes The setting is amazing, access to the lake and the wonderful sunsets are great. To clarify some things in this review...first, the rental appl attached online has guideline mentioning the neighbors, marina and the do's and don'ts.The cottages are cleaned every time when guest leave and inspected to insure a clean and sanitized place. The microwave is inspected, all counters and table are clean, free of any crumbs, maybe the oven was an oversight.. all dishes are checked and I personally double wash items if needed. There are always extra Tp, papertowels, dish towels, dawn and hand soap in Kitchen and bath cabinets,If you needed anything,my note to you said to call or text me,I live less than a mile away and happy to provide for my guest enjoyment.Never had a complaint of the beds. Many, many people have enjoyed my cottages, said nice things about the location and condition. Perhaps a hotel with a pool is more your style. A quick call or text would have hopefully satisfied you or at least limit your list!

Relax and Wine

We really enjoyed our stay in this cozy cottage. Being able to sit on the deck in the mornings and early evenings was absolutely wonderful. We watched a pair of eagles fish for breakfast and dinner a few days. The cottage had everything the three of us needed for a relaxing week exploring the Finger Lakes region. The location was quiet and felt very safe. We were concerned when we arrived that the air conditioner was in the bunk bedroom instead of the common area, but in the end the cottage stayed pleasantly cool during our visit despite temps in the 90s a few days. The cottage is away from the busiest areas of the Finger Lakes, which makes it a peaceful retreat. We highly recommend getting food to go from nearby Salt of the Earth. It is close enough that everything was still hot when we got it home. The dinner we got there was delicious and we wished we had known about it sooner. Fargo Bar and Grill down in Aurora is another great nearby choice for food while you are exploring the area. Things to know - The steps down to the water are very secure and there is not a crazy number of them. I have had multiple knee surgeries so I was concerned, but I felt quite comfortable heading down to the water. The cottage has no closets and the only dresser is in the primary bedroom. With 3 adults staying for 9 nights, that was a bit of a challenge for those of us who like to unpack and let the wrinkles settle out of our clothes. The owner was easy to contact with questions. We will definitely put this on the list of properties we would stay in again.
