While we appreciate your business and know you are an esteemed professor, with regard to your review it is indicative of two things, punitive response to our request for charges for additional, unadvertised furniture and a failure to review the clear and concise amenities we advertise. Our photos and our listing make it clear there is no desk in this modest-size space. Where would we put it? There is no room unfortunately. And we make this clear with abundant photography and a description of the property that outlines each amenity. The memory foam mattress is highlighted clearly in the listing as a preferred amenity of guests. A firm one was not advertised. It would be impossible to get a firm experience from a dreamy memory foam product. As for the table space, we don't provide a table except the mini dining fold out that is pictured setup and put away to make clear the limits of the furniture. When you texted me to ask for additional furniture, I offered immediately to comply with your request provided you pay the actual cost of the additional concession you asked for that we did not advertise and you said, "no thank you, I'll make due". At these incredibly low prices, for summer nearly half that of the nearest competitor, what more can you ask for? We offer super affordable, modest and clean accommodations in one of the best areas of Burbank with cold AC and a quiet top-floor apartment. There's even laundry inside which most places don't have. And we provide everything shown, a comfy soft bed, soft pillows, clean white linen and towels, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, loofah, mouthwash, q-tips, emery board, tea, coffee, real milk, sugar, sweet 'n' low and complimentary towel exchange, Tide and bleach. We encourage you to stay at the competitor and see if the value is there for you. Adding the desk you asked for, for free, was not in the budget but we offered to handle the purchase at your expense.

I always appreciate the opportunity to improve amenities based on guest feedback. Since there are two items I would consider guest issues in the review, I felt it helpful to respond with my thoughts. As to the clock, virtually all guests use phones for waking up and the images of the bed and nightstand are clear on the lack of an alarm clock which has become less relevant over the years with mobile phones. I asked many guests when appointing the room and this was stated to me. The fewer things to dust and deal with (less clutter) is my goal with all my units. As to the coffee press, I have provided images of the amenities and the French press is in those images. If a guest requires an amenity not shown in my listing, I am always prepared (and have in the past) gone out and pre-set the apartment with exactly what was requested. I have no issue bringing a coffee maker from home. As it stands we include free coffee and condiments with the French press. Since our listing does not advertise any form of coffee or coffee maker in it, I consider the coffee service a free bonus item. There are many bonus amenities in the rental that are not advertised. While I have never asked for a review, I feel it important that someone who appears to be dissatisfied, even slightly, and who elects to explain this openly and publicly, that the feedback is weighed against what was paid for. The apartment is highly discounted against comparable rentals and offers a nice, no-frills spot to relax and unwind in a safe area. If you are considering renting from me, feel free to let me know up front what you want and need so I'm not hearing about it at the tail end of your stay. For those who require amenties that are assumed to exist in a luxury resort, we can recommend (and sometimes do recommend) the $200 - $300 a night hotels in the area.

Thank you for your review. Much appreciated. You are correct about size and occupancy, and the maximum number of adults allowed is two and there is only one bed for this reason. The apartment size is indeed modest and that's why our pricing is 1/3 of a hotel room of the exact same size to provide travelers in need of a kitchen and apartment-style living a viable option to extremely expensive alternatives. And with a low price we do not cut corners, we just work hard to over-deliver on the amenities. Certainly not suitable for families since it's a maximum of two people allowed by our ad policy. Glad to hear there was nothing negative to say and curious if the "size" was the only reason you dropped a star? Just wondering and always grateful for honest feedback.

We welcome you back to stay with us and it would be my pleasure to show you how to use the two separate heating units in the apartment, the one right next to the bed and the one on the wall which are designed with guest comfort in mind. Because we always wash comforters between guests and many hosts do not (yuk!) it costs us more to maintain the apartment in the winter and we store all comforters in the Fall. As a result of this policy, you pay less in the Spring and Summer than in Fall and Winter for staying here. Since I am only 1 mile away, I'm glad to bring more towels, more blankets, coffee, amenities such as more soap, shampoo, etc. Delighted that overall you enjoyed your stay and I'm sorry to hear that your 1am arrival meant we didn't have time to connect and discuss operating the heating unit which is explained in our house manual that was placed on the bed for your arrival. You will also notice that I advertise with the summer blanket on the bed and a comforter is not mentioned in our list of provided amenities. We are always at the ready to help with custom requests, in advance of arrival, if you prefer not to turn on heaters for some reason. Since the heaters do a great job of warming up the heater and we try to keep our room rates low, less than 1/2 of a local hotel, adding more laundry for the housekeeper is avoided by handling additional needs beyond what is advertised and shown in our photos. While this is an unusual and long response, it feels needed. I always want to meet guest expectations and at the same time set them for future guests who read reviews before making their decisions.
