This house was ideally located for our large group. Some were hikers and it was very close to the park. Some liked going into town and it was only a couple of blocks away. This was great since there is essentially no place to park in town. The driveway easily fit 3 cars but we had 4 and we were able to fit them in.It was quiet and a beautiful street. The rooms were all unique and comfortable. We did cook and the kitchen was small but OK. The porches were shady and comfortable for visiting. The steps leading to the house were a little steep for some older friends but they did OK with some assistance. We all had a wonderful time

It was a pleasant surprise to have the house be exactly as advertised. Clean, six big comfortable beds with a bathroom in each bedroom. it is a beautiful old house with all the old house charm and issues you would expect. Nine of us had complete privacy but plenty of space to be together. My only suggestion would be that if you plan to cook, bring your own pans and utensils as the tiny kitchen is not equipped for that many people. However, if you only make breakfast and eat your meals out at the many wonderful cafes and restaurants within walking distance, then it is a non-issue. And Acadia itself-amazing. Words cannot describe it. Our first family reunion was a huge success, and we hope for many more. Only wish it was a shorter drive! My one warning which I was aware of is that if you have older people with you, there is a difficult entry into the house and lots of stairs! All of us agreed we would come again!

Great location, we were able to walk to lots of restaurants and such in Bar Harbor. That was critical. The house was well equipped for our party of 10. We needed all the beds. Having parking space was critical too, as the area is very busy. It was an easy jumping off point for Acadia and other activities

Great location with easy walk to town. Lots of room for whole family. Everyone/room had their own bathroom. Beds were comfortable and nice hotel quality towels and linens. Older home with good size comfortably front porch. Bathrooms and outside walkway/steps could use updating.

The house is in an excellent location, you can walk into town for eating and shopping. We had a large group and loved the 6 bedrooms / 6 bathrooms! There’s not central A/C so the bathrooms got muggy but it was not anything terrible. All bedrooms had an A/C/ heater in them.

Bar Harbor classic

House is centrally located to downtown Bar Harbor. Easy walk to the grocery store and a few blocks from the bar island sand bar. 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms were perfect for our group. One bedroom on the first floor for a person who had problems with stairs was especially nice. Kitchen had a nice supply of Keurig pods which was unexpected. All bedrooms had individual temperature controls. Would definitely stay here again. Not modern layout of rooms if that's what you're looking for. Living room, parlor, dining room kitchen. Small deck with a grill and big table to eat outside if desired.

The good and the bad

The house was in an absolutely perfect location and loved that each room had its own bathroom. There was plenty of space for our large group to spread out. However, the home needs quite a bit of maintenance. It was extremely humid. The pictures on the walls are bowed and bent from being wet. Towels never dry and the beds just feel wet all the time. The kitchen was poorly equipped so we had to buy quite a few kitchen basics to cook with. Some interior doors were very difficult to open and the door knobs are coming off on a couple as well. A few of the bathrooms need to be completely gutted.

We loved the outstanding location of this home which is located in the heart of Bar Harbor making it easy to walk into town. It is also just a short drive to Acadia National Park. The house is an older home with plenty of character and a few quirks that come with its age. What made it special were the wonderful gathering spaces that allowed our group of 10 to spend time together. Having numerous bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms was a tremendous convenience. Additionally, having the ability to park three cars in the driveway was a huge asset. The communication with the host was excellent. Any questions were answered promptly and thoroughly.Overall, the location, spaciousness, unique character, and wonderful gathering spaces made it a great home base for our Bar Harbor stay

Great spot for a large group

We had a total of nine people (which includes a 10 month baby). The House was charming on a quiet street locally within easy walking distance of downtown Bar Harbor, grocery store etc. We spent six nights. Best part of house other than location was open living spaces, porch etc. The kitchen is was fine, but nothing special. Bathrooms (at least three of the six) need serious upgrade. The side entrance is a bit awkward with the step up and step down that does not have a hand rail or adequate lightning, but is manageable once you are familiar with it. There was also a not of instruction on the heating units and they did not work in every room. The jets in the tub in one of the rooms also did not work. This was our first time in Acadia. I am sure we will be back. While I would certainly consider staying here again, now that I am familiar with the town, I would also look to see other large group options and available.

Wonderful location for a large group. The hang out areas are big enough for our group of 8 adults and 2 kids. The washer and dryer should be functional for a group this large staying a week and for the cost.

Great Location nice place

This was a typical older home in downtown. It has a full bathroom for every room, which was a nice bonus. Great location, full grocery store a block away, in fact the entire town is within walking distance. The kitchen is small, but fully equipped and no problem when we cooked for entire family. There is a back patio with a bbq grill and table that seats 6 or you could squeeze in 8, this is not currently pictured. There is room for 4 cars in the driveway, which is another good bonus. We could have used a few fans as a couple of the nights it got hot and there is no air conditioning. It was reasonably clean, however the deck needed a good scrub and there were a few things that could of been a bit cleaner, however it was no problem at all. I would stay there again.

Bar Harbor

Entry to the house. Is on the side and not safe in my opinion. Outside lighting is poor and stone steps are not secure. Entry is by basement and is spooky looking. Entry to home should be through front door. Got locked out once as keyless entry would not work. Called owner and there is a lever on the inside of the door that must be horizontal to activate. Had to climb up outside stairs (supported by 2×4's) to gain access. The owner was very Good about answering and ensuring that we got in.. Old decor inside needs updating. A few pictures had mold growing behind the glass. Mold in some of the bathrooms too. Refrigerator did not dispense water from the door, only ice. While we were aware that the house was older, we were disappointed in the condition.

House is big sleeps a lot of people. Could have been a lot cleaner. Best part of the house was the location, & being able to walk to town. House is not easy access for seniors or handicap.
