This place is appropriately named as Shangri-La. Amenities were on point. Location was a great jumping off point for our trip for both hiking and exploring Sedona. Outside the worst of Sedona’s traffic, it felt the perfect balance between remote nature and proximity to food and fun. The hot tub was an amazing feature along with the well appointed deck next to the creek made for a great evening retreat after a long day of hiking and exploring.

What a wonderful experience! This beautiful, immaculate home had everything we needed for a relaxing week away. Great care was taken to include special touches-- fresh flowers, bottle of wine, freshly ground organic coffee, welcome note-- to make us feel right at home. Communication with the host could not have been better. Very responsive and kind. We especially enjoyed the back deck for reading, napping, and grilling. We were far enough away from the Uptown area to feel "away from it all," but close enough to head out for coffee, shopping, dinner, gelato, etc. My husband caught a trout on every cast from the bridge at the end of the street, and the water was so clear that I even took a dip-- something I am not likely to do anywhere else. If you are looking for the perfect place in Sedona, this is the house for you!

Great Location

The property is charming and close to Sedona and other activities. The picture of the house is somewhat misleading as it shows the whole house, and basically, you have the underside of the house and a makeshift kitchen. The two-bedroom basement portion is very nice and comfortable. The host was very accommodating and full of information.

We loved having you guys! Thanks for staying. Our listing clearly states the description of the property being a two unit property, with this unit specifically being the downstairs unit with a kitchenette. It absolutely, in no way, is a basement. You had the property to yourself that week, so hopefully it provides a good home base during your vacation!

Happy Stay

Check in and Cleanliness was great. The only thing we noticed was the listing mentioned a hot tub but there is no useable hot tub. Everything else was wonderful including the property manager communication.

I am so sorry for the mistake in the listing saying we had a hot tub. We are in the process of wiring a hot tub but it should not have been checked off as an amenity at this time until we have it up and running

Perfect, beautiful, and peaceful space for a family getaway

This was the perfect place for my family to spend the holiday. The house is in a great location, located in a gorgeous canyon and just a mile from Slide Rock State Park. It is spacious and accommodated our family of six adults wonderfully.

Excellent, well-kept home in a beautiful location.

We stayed at this property for a week, and could not have been happier with our choice. The home was in excellent shape, and had everything we needed. There were no surprises, and check-in was a breeze. The location in Oak Creek Canyon is beautiful. Nothing negative to report at all.

Charming and peaceful retreat

First, I'd like to thank the owners for providing detailed instructions on the location and operation of the home. The home is very comfortable and can easily accommodate 8 people. The floor plan is spacious with two living rooms where the kids can hang out and play on the giant bean bags downstairs and the adults can enjoy a conversation upstairs or on the giant balcony patio. A hot tub dip after a day of exploring was a very pleasant surprise! The home is located in one of the best parts of the canyon just minutes from town and about 2hrs from the Grand Canyon. We had a great time exploring the creek that runs behind the home. And you are just minutes from several fantastic hiking trails. If we ever make it back to Sedona, we will definitely stay here again! For reference, we stayed in May 2017. This is a perfect time of year to visit Sedona. Cool in the mornings, but warms to mid 70's during the day. No rain!

Reunion with childhood friends

The location along with the great feeling of a home, left the impression and inspiration of one of the most memorable trips we have had. It was like magic listening to the creek and the wind thru the trees. It's definitely worth a repeat visit.

Relaxing vacation home with everything you need!

My family came from different parts of the country to spend a long weekend in Sedona. Doc's Shangri-La was a perfect spot to relax with family - the main level is an open floor plan with an awesome deck and hot tub. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - there was enough rooms and privacy for everybody. Lots of amenities with this house!! The house is very nicely done and located in a secluded area within Oak Creek Canyon. We had a lot of fun exploring and it was only a short drive to restaurants and state parks. Highly recommend Slide Rock State Park which is only a mile away!

The perfect spot.

We had a wonderful week in Sedona staying at Oak Creek Canyon. The house was very spacious for two families and everything worked perfectly. We enjoyed the hot tub and back deck for reading. The kids also loved the bean bag chairs. The drive into town was about 10 minutes for dinning and 15 minutes for hiking. Overall, we were very happy and would stay again in the future.

Comfortable, relaxing home!

Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us. We stayed with our dog and two children. The kids loved the downstairs area with the piano, bean bags, and board games. They also enjoyed taking the dog for walks by the creek. One of the best parts about this home is the patio/ deck. We grilled almost every evening and enjoyed the hot tub afterwards. Another great thing about this house is the large windows and great lighting in the living room area and master bedroom. It offers great views of the canyon walls. The home was clean, and well stocked with towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, and paper products. I definitely recommend this home as a base camp for your Sedona adventures. It's great for families and couples looking for a quiet get-a -way.

Perfect Spot for family or quiet getaway

We spent 5 nights in Oak Creek Canyon for my mother's 60th Birthday and this property was a perfect fit for our family! The kitchen and outdoor grill were perfect as we cooked at the house almost every night. The hot tub was a perfect way to wind down the day after a hike or bike ride. The neighborhood was super quiet despite being Memorial Day Weekend and had plenty of room for the six of us. The house was spotless and the owners were a pleasure to work with. Oak Creek Canyon is a bit off the beaten path but still easy access to all the sights of Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Would highly recommend for a family trip or quiet getaway!

Great stay at this property nested in the heart of Oak Creek Canyon.

We had a wonderful time staying at this property. The house was very clean and very comfortable and had all the amenities you need to have a good time (barbecue, spa, great view, large comfortable sofa in the living room, wifi -connection is good enough to check your emails not enough to stream netflix- even a piano...). The kitchen was really nice and had everything you need if you're a serious cook. We stayed there with our three children (4 to 12 years old) and my in-laws and everyone enjoyed it. The instructions from the owner were clear and practical. The house is located in the middle of Oak Canyon in the middle of the trees only 10 minutes by car from downtown Sedona and 15 minutes from most hiking trails. The only cons I see are that the house is located close to a busy road and you can hear the cars from the terrace so despite the pretty secluded location this is a noisy reminder that civilization is never far... Also you have to cross the river through a low bridge to get there and it might get flooded when it rains, potentially getting you stuck on either side of the bridge for a few hours. If you're on a schedule you might want to considerer it depending on which season you're going. This has not happened to us but we got a little worried because it started raining on the day we left, luckily the water hand't risen too high when we left. These are the only reasons why I am not giving a 5 stars rating. We would certainly recommend this property to our friends or stay there again!

Thank you Claire! I would encourage each traveler to read the instructions and description of the property very carefully prior to booking. We do disclose there is a possibility of water run off in the canyon during winter months. This is an amazing sight to see, creating waterfalls all over the canyon. Perhaps I should include that this only happens when there is a large amount of snow in Flagstaff and Sedona and then it rains on top of the snow. We actually have return guests come during winter to attempt to see the canyon during these times. I must add that the canyon does not flood with normal rain fall as you received during your stay. Glad you enjoyed your stay!

Quiet, Clean

This property was clean and the home owner was helpful in solving any problems we had. The beds were comfortable and the home is very spacious. We liked the quiet location. The patio deck was very nice - just wish the weather had been a little warmer so we could have spent more time out there.
