We’ve gone through VRBO and had several great stays in Sandestin with no issues until this one - managed not individually but by the main “resort”, which was a mistake.
The check in directions were not helpful, as they vaguely said to “check in at welcome center” and the address just takes you to the middle of the main road. No further instruction on how to get to beach or pool but it was easy enough to find. Getting into the pool or on the beach was another issue, the gate codes didn’t work, and the resort wasn’t answering the phone, mailbox was full as well. My husband drove over to the welcome center and someone said they’d look into it and call us back. They never did. Other guests gave us their code to the pool and beach, which worked. The pool was “under maintenance” one day, the sign didn’t say what was wrong or when it would be fixed. Same issue as with the gate code - couldn’t get anyone on the phone from the resort, drove over, employee said they’d find out and call us, never did.
The room itself was very clean but needed updating and basic toiletries. No paper towels, dish soap, or sponge. Very old coffee maker with cheap coffee (didn’t use), old blender and toaster. I would stay in this building again given the great location but not if managed by the Sandestin resort.
